Forum rules

Rules

1. All normal forum rules apply.

2. NO JOKES! This isn't the topic for funny pictures or wise ass remarks.

3. Serious topics need to be well thought out when written, they also need to have well thought out replies. Please try to write more than a single sentence. Back up your opinion with facts or something else.

4. Keep a cool and calm head, especially about things such as politics, gay rights, religion, etc. People are allowed to have differing opinions than you, please don't view them as personal attacks, please don't start any sort of major drama or get all offended here. In the end, we're all friends still.

5. Use common sense when posting in here, which simply means ask yourself if this is something really worth posting, are you intentionally being mean to someone, if your topic is ridiculously controversial (IE. Baby Eating), are you accidentally bashing Christianity on Easter Day, etc.

6. In your posts, please try to clarify whether you're speaking based on fact or personal experiences as it will lead to less misunderstandings. Please do not state opinions as if they were facts without proof to back it up.

7. NO DRUNK POSTING.

Failure to comply with any of these rules (additional rules may be added in the future as needed) will result in a warning or perhaps a banning from the 'Why So Serious?' sub-forum. The severity of the punishment works in tandem with the severity of your actions.

It's been coming for awhile. The dude really did work until he couldn't.
If you go back and look at pictures and video of him from about ten years ago, you'll see a very drastic change physically due to the condition.

I'm kinda surprised that he fought it for as long as he did, considering the type of cancer and location.

He was undeniably an influential force on the entire planet since the late 70s until now. The world really will be a lesser place without his presence.

The question on my mind is will this affect Mac sales positively or negatively?

Really though, rest in peace.

Certainly a heavy blow to the technological world.

Without Xerox, there would be no Steve Jobs, and without Steve Jobs, there'd be no Bill Gates

I've been trying to figure out what exactly to write. There's just so much to say I don't know where to begin. So instead I'll just keep it short. Steve Jobs is the reason I draw on a computer and not on paper. Throughout my years as a Mac user I've listened to him talking about how he creates for creative people. While others in the industry talk about nanometers and megahertz, Steve talked about what you can do with your machine. You've inspired me my entire life Steve. Thank you.

On a non personal level. I feel the industry has lost one of it's greatest leaders and innovators. The future of IT won't be the same without him.

@Koari
Spoiler
Before Xerox, Apple made the arguably first real PC. And they were huge because of it. Before Apple, (when nobody thought there was any money to be made in software) Microsoft made BASIC and DOS.

He really was an innovator, a divergent thinker, and an entrepreneur... but more importantly, he's one of the few people I can point to and say, "this person is responsible for the world around us." His vision of what technology can do has impacted the world forever.

And you know, his story is really one of a common everyday guy like you or me that made it big. His story is the quintessential rags to riches, American Dream type story. He was adopted, he dropped out of college, he was sleeping on his friend's couch turning in glass bottles for food money and getting free meals from a local Hari Krishna temple... I mean, this is a guy that really lived on the extremes in terms of economic class. It's an inspiring story and I'm sad to see him go.

Usually I don't care about celebrities but Steve was really much more than just a celebrity. He's the kind of person that will be in history books like Edison, Tesla, Carnegie, Rockefeller, etc.. He was a truly important person in our time and he's a pretty big loss.

The man was a visionary and a genius, and the world is a little less awesome without him.
