I really need to at least watch the Tennant series 'cause I loved the bits I have seen but I haven't seen them as a whole. *was watching a bit more Torchwood than Doctor Who at the time. ^^,*

Here is the BEST way/order to watch Dr. Who and it's respective tie-ins, so as to avoid all spoilers and such.

Dr. Who Season 1 (New Series) & Special
Dr. Who Season 2 & Special
Torchwood Season 1
Sarah Jane Adventures - 60 Minute Special (AKA Episode 1 of Season 1)
Dr. Who Season 3
Sarah Jane Adventures Season 1
Dr. Who Season 3's Special
Torchwood Season 2
Dr. Who Season 4
Sarah Jane Adventures Season 2
Dr. Who Season 4 Special #1
Torchwood Radio Plays
Torchwood: Children of Earth (AKA Series 3)
Dr. Who Season 4 Special #2
Sarah Jane Adventures Season 3
Dr. Who Season 4 Special #3 & #4
Dr. Who Season 5

That, for the most part, breaks down the series in a chronological airing order. But, really it doesn't matter too much aside from a few key things and if you want it simplified even more...

- Season 1 & 2 of Dr. Who so you know what Torchwood is and who Sarah Jane is.
- Then finish Torchwood Season 2 and at least the first Season before you watch the last episode of Season 4 as it contains MAJOR spoilers for Torchwood.
- Then make sure you watch Sarah Jane Season 3 as well as the rest of Torchwood before you watch the last 2 Season 4 specials, as those also contain spoilers for Torchwood and SJA.

From The Doctor Who News Page (GallifreyBase):

Speaking at the Edinburgh International Television Festival, Steven Moffat has announced that the next series of Doctor Who will be split in two with a 'gamechanging' cliffhanger in episode 7.

"The split series is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!"

The BBC press office describe the split transmission as the result of a request from Steven Moffat to write a new Doctor Who story arc which involves a big plot twist in the middle of the series. "By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens."

Sounds interesting, I'm for it as something to look forward to in the Autumn :)

And I though it was painful enough with this wait and only 13 episodes to tide me over, holiday episode is wrapped up (no pun intended) and should be gooooooooood. so excited for it

The cliffhanger will probably relate to either Amy or River, whether they keep Amy for one more season than have her either leave or die (probably leave, i cant see them killing her) and hopefully just hopefully River teaming up with the Doctor as a companion, doubt it would happen but just imagine! Still can't wait to learn more about her

Anyone think she's possibly a future doctor? or is that not possible seeing as she died in an old episode from Tennant's run (am i right on that?)

Some BIG spoilers about SJA episode 'Death of the Doctor'....look if you wish however a big piece of established canon will be changed.....

Spoiler
Press Release
Matt Smith, Laila Rouass and Katy Manning guest star in Death Of The Doctor, written by Russell T Davies.

Part One
When The Doctor is declared dead, old companions Sarah Jane and Jo Grant meet for the very first time and join forces to discover the truth. As an interstellar conspiracy gathers around Unit HQ, Clyde finds that he holds the fate of the Time Lord in his hand – quite literally!

Part Two:
Old friends fight together to make one last stand against the sinister Shansheeth. But with Clyde and Rani trapped and in terrible danger, Sarah Jane and Jo Grant realise their worst fears – their friendship with the Doctor might be the very thing that dooms them.

Now the Big Spoilers:

* The regeneration limit (12) is out the window and the Doctor states he can regenerate 507 times.
* Doctors past will appear, First, Second, Third, Fourth and Tenth.
* The Doctor doesn't have to be white
* Past companions will be mentioned, including, "A couple of professors at Cambridge, Barbara and Ian Chesterton - they haven't aged a day since the 60s."
* Jo has a grandchild in the episode, Jo Jones (née Grant) has 7 children and (almost) 13 grandchildren
* No Amy or Rory. The Doctor mentions he's dropped them off on a honeymoon planet. Not a planet for honeymooners; the planet married an asteroid. Jo gets narky because of the realisation that the Doctor would take a married couple on as companions
* The Brigadier is stranded in Peru, Liz Shaw is on the moon.

A lot of stuff there lol fanwanky? Who cares, I cannot wait! :-D

Spoiler
I don't think that regeneration thing is supposed to be taken as literally. They're not changing up the status quo with that, it was just a remark/not serious thing.

Why do we have Roman Rory and Kiss-o-gram Amy? Found that a bit odd, also looks like there are two unique places where this story takes place, and with the whole ghost of Christmas past jibe and christmas time can be rewritten, maybe theres a past, present and future aspect to the plot?

Looking forward to this, can't wait for Michael Gambon too, also more Matt Smith is awesome =D

Probably so they could be in costume for this event, perhaps taken from different moments in time?

I've started reading Dr. Who comics.

Gotta say, they're pretty fun. I'm really new to the Doctor, but I love how there's little focus on continuity that requires more than basic knowledge of the series. Reading classics with the 4th Doctor, they're pretty entertaining. Also read the first volume of a series that follows the tenth doctor. The first arc has ass ugly art (WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR FACE was a thought the entire time I was reading it), but the dialog made up for it. I love the little differences between the different versions. Also, the art thankfully improved for the next and longer arc, loved how detailed the world is but how easy to understand it is.

Why can't Star Trek be this easy to understand?

haha, I can sympathize with that statement. I assume it's easy to jump in per series, but jumping into the middle of a series always seems impossible.

Soooooo, I just started watching the show. I started with Series one of the new series and totally couldn't make it through some of the episodes. Man Eccleston was a huge cornball, and Rose annoyed me to all piss. Despite that, my buddy promised it gets way better, so I skipped to the end of Series One to watch how Eccleston regens into Tennant, as I've never seen a regen before.
Good god, Tennant is awesome. So awesome, in fact, that I decided I had to go back and see what I was missing by skipping most all of series one. Glad I did, because Eccleston's doctor was definitely nothing to skip.

I will say that I hate the shit out of Rose though! Possessive, manipulative bitch. The way she acted towards Mickey and some of the other characters they ran across was disgusting.

I'm only mid way into series 3, and Martha is definitely awesome.

As I tell absolutely everyone... re-read my edit to the first post and do yourself a HUGE favor and watch those tie-in series as well. It will make the later season finale a katrillionbillion times better because it has so many crossover characters and in-jokes and it's just nerdgasmic.
