Oh god, it's going to be one of those "Drag out a single story into what feels like infinity" seasons, isn't it? I miss being able to watch any episode and not having to catch up on 4 episodes worth of back-story.

Doctor Who does a pretty good job of finding a balence between monster of the week and mythology heavy arc episodes. A lot of the stuff with the doctor's death has been b-plot for the most part and shouldn't really stop your enjoyment of the series if you missed a couple episodes. Only the River Song stuff I would imagine gets confusing because they are refering back to stuff that happened a couple seasons back. Add in their timelines are going different directions and I could see someone getting lost. Flowchart maybe?

Spoiler
Interesting that Amy and Rory go out on what would have otherwise been a one off episode. Maybe the actors were busy or they couldn't find a way to work them into the next story since it looks like the flatmate will make a return and be featured. I'm sure they will be back for the finale, they are key to the Doctor's death storyline.

Interested in what the future plans for Amy and Rory are. Maybe they are going to be reoccuring guest characters in the next series or the Doctor will just do a few solo adventures if they are just doing specials.

To be honest.. I'm done with River.. Hopefully Moffatt is too. But, hell if Silence in the Library isn't sad as hell when you watch it now that you know River.

As for this Season, I share a lot of the opinions expressed here: http://geekscape.net/let-s-kill-amy-pond.html

The link makes it sound bad, but it's a good read.

Yeah it did seem like they gave up looking for Melody a little too quick in favor of going on a new adventure of the week. But them having Amy and Rory as greiveing parents for the next 5 or 6 episodes doesn't sound like much fun either. It didn't bother me because a lot of stand alone episodes have been excellent this season.

I think this may be a case of people hypeing up a season finale or the mysteries too much to the point where there is no way they can live up to expectations.

Of course we have.

Spoiler
I thought it was good. As stated before, my thoughts on the season were pretty well summed up in the article I linked. I'm not really a fan of the way the whole series played out. To quote from the article for those who don't want to read it, " . . . explaining mysteries for 13 episodes does not an engaging story make."

Either way, I'm excited to see what he has in story for next season.

It speaks volumes that I literally cannot muster up the motivation to watch the finale. Good job, Moffat.

It's a solid story that compresses 2 Seasons into 1 Season. Mid-Season Finale should've been the Season Finale. Don't be afraid to break the mold and end on a cliffhanger.

No talk of the new Christmas special?

Well it was a good episode to tide us over. The ending felt like a bit of a cop out but hey it is Christmas so I can't fault them for wanting a more happy ending.

It was very average to be honest, and Bill Bailey was criminally underutilized in his role, and aside from the 'winter wonderland' theme, it barely felt like Narnia as well, those tree people made me think Lord of the Rings more than anything else. I enjoyed it for what it was, but i doubt I'll rewatch it.

In regards to season 7 though, what are peoples expectations or hopes for the series?

Spoiler
Moffat will finally be ending the Ponds tenure as companions in a 'tragic' way, wonder if it will live up to previous tragic endings for companions, such as Donna Noble, or Rose Tyler if you thought that was too (I personally don't after they dragged her back into season 4 and gave her a damn clone of the 10th doctor)

And what do people hope to see from a new companion? Male, female, Jack returning?

Season 7 type things:

Spoiler
I'm happy to see Rory and Amy go. People who love Doctor Who tend not to like some of the things I have to say about them, but that being said; I think they put waaay too much emphasis on them. I realize it's probably hard to write a companion into the show. You have to make the audience care about them, because the doctor can't really travel around with some random red-shirt. But I just feel, with Amy and Rory, Moffat made them too important. I'm hoping the next companion will be some one smart and wise-cracking. Who will often times let their curiosity get the best of them on their adventures with the Doctor. Often leading them into some trouble that the Doctor will need to get them out of, and sometimes, vice-versa. The companion will have to come to rescue the Doctor! We've seen a lot of the same in the past few companions, where they're there mainly to remind the Doctor that he can't just Change whatever he wants about time like he's some kind of god. I think they need to bring back the fun in Doctor Who.. And stop with all the dramatic tension and cliff-hanger endings. But now I'm asking too much.

The new companion might be called Clara. Interesting name, for sure. Hope it sticks.
