so i got an xbox 360 not too long ago and the motherfucker likes to freeze. no rings, no error messages, just a frozen screen. at first i thought it was the game. i bought a used copy of dead rising and got pissed everytime it froze thinking it was the game. so considering i was strapped for cash after i bought my xbox, a memory card, and the game i couldn't use it. so now i'm back into a better financial state picked up mass effect and it worked well for at least an hour and a half before i shut it off and went to bed. started playing today and got about 45 minutes worth of gameplay and the motherfucker freezes! so i buy gta iv today and i can play for 20-30 minutes and still MORE FUCKIN' FREEZING! GRR!! i spent an assload of money and i get shit on by micro$oft! i tried reading up on the internetzz why this shit happens and i get heating issues. so now i have this thing ghetto rigged with a fan behind my xbox pumping air full blast to cool this thing down but nothing it still freezes.

anyways the point of this thread is i need ideas on how to fix this thing. i really don't want to send it into microsoft i just want to play my games! should i try the towel trick? should i buy cooling fans for it? should i put it in my freezer and put my tv on top of the refrigerator and play? i don't know what to do.

It's funny that the issue at hand is your 360 freezing up and the problem is overheating.
*Insert da-dum-chi!*

Anyways, I say just send the bitch in and get her serviced. All those solutions you mentioned are just temporary fixes to a more permanent problem. If you continue to allow it to freeze and overheat, eventually no amount of fixing will make it better.

I would also say go for an elite, but apparently those have been going tits up as well.

does it matter if it's core or elite?

edit: mine is a core system.
