 Post subject: Xbox will not read my hard drive?

I turn on my xbox and it says zero profiles found I have the xbox slim with the 250 upgrade and under the area that says storage devices it says like 3 gig avalible?
pleasee tell me I can fix this and how!

I ended up having to reformat my harddrive its working now but I lost all my saved games still have my profile and I had to redownload my store items again lost soo many hours of game play! how can I make sure this wont happen again :P

Beats me. make sure you're using a legit microsoft HDD and make sure you're careful when plugging and unplugging it from the console.

Invest in a memory stick and put all your save data on that. Saves from games usually don't take up that much space so you won't need a big memory stick. I have all my save data on a 4 gig memory stick and since I don't have a big HD just a 20 gig. The memory on that HD goes to DLC and XBLA games.

If you have the slim, it uses a standard 2.5" SATA HDD, you can put it into any computer and back the data up.

Yep. Not sure if there's any weird filesystem issues, though. But physically it's a SATA 2.5" HDD.

I would actually recommend doing HDD backups with a Linux system, even if it's just a live disc, they just don't try to mess with the data and partitions like Windows does. Also the partition software is free.
