I definitely shan't be spoiling it, just reassuring that if you have NO idea what the hell happens at the end of the game, the DLC pretty much explains it down to every little detail at the start.

Then creates an entirely new set of confusions.

Hehe, sounds like the type of ambiguous ending I enjoy :X3:

Yeah, I suppose it does answer some things, but it doesn't come to some ultramite conclusion or anything beyond that. Most of the shit it answered by the ending was stuff I had already knew just by using my brain. :o

Picked up the both DLC episodes in order to get hyped up for American Nightmare. Enjoyed The Signal quite a bit. It might just be me being rusty but this seemed way harder than any of the encounters during the main game. Going to hit up The Writer as soon as I get the chance.

Absolutely loved this one. If it wasn't for ME2 it would have been my GOTY 2010 without a doubt. Although I did feel a bit shafted by the ending, it wasn't that bad. And what an amazing soundtrack! Really strange how they integrated it, but after a while I found myself really looking forward to hearing the next song choice. This game is top of my list for a second playthrough when I get a chance.

Also, it had a great Collector's Edition, lots of awesome stuff in there. I must go back and read the book that came with it.

Enjoyed The Writer more than The Signal. They did some really cool things with the environment. Not required be they were both fun little expansions.

It was pretty informative as to the lore and any plot threads from the post-ending. Also, there's tons of cool shit in the Art Booky thing they made too.

Really pumped for American Nightmare. Sure it might be more action oriented, but it's a fucking episode of NIGHT SPRINGS! Complete with Twilight Zone-esque Narrator.

Still too ticked off at the ending to but the "real" ending they're selling.

felt more like the DLC was a coda than the "true" ending

Yeah, I wouldn't view it that way at all.

I mean the DLC gives you some more character insights but doesn't wrap up story. But I guess you should have figured that with American Nightmare side story and a possible sequel on the way.

Maybe I'm too unfamiliar with the genre, but I really wanted
Spoiler
that 20 seconds of closure where Alan and his wife up and leave the town. Anything else just makes me feel a little, I dunno, cheated.

finch, those endings suck. It's like playing a Silent Hill game where you walk off into the sunset at the end. If the main character isn't crazy and committing suicide at the end of your game (AKA Bad Ending), then you're doing it wrong.

Uh, what about getting abducted by UFOs? DOES THAT NOT COUNT?!?

Seriously though, American Nightmare rocked. It made me go out and (re)buy Alan Wake. Maybe I'll finally pick up that dlc.

playing through Alan Wake again... I have to say this is probably in my top 3 games of this console generation, I really hope we get a full on sequel.

ask and ye shall receive? http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/03/ ... -alan-wake

http://thishouseofdreams.blogspot.com/

reading through the blog sure as hell makes it seem like alan wake 2 is coming, though maybe not what is expected , reading between the lines a bit it seems like it will revolve around some girl who bought a house from an old woman with alzheimers and she starts to dream about the woman and alan wake ( a man with dark hair and elbow patches on his jacket? has to be him ) , my guess the woman who sold the house is alice maybe? or this could all be a viral build up to the game and it will have nothing to do with this blog, not sure which way it will break I just hope this is the real deal.

Anyone left that has finished American Nightmare. I got it on XBL a few months ago but other than a quick runthrough to the first couple of check points, I haven't done much with it. I loved the first game.
