From da Wikipedia:

Killzone 3 is an upcoming 2011 first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the fourth installment in the Killzone series and the first game in the series to be presented in 3D.

Plot:

The game picks up immediately after the ending of Killzone 2 and follows the previous games' main protagonist, Sev, a Special Forces operative fighting for the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance against the Helghast Empire. The game will also give players a deeper look in to Helghan culture such as their language and showcase whatever humanity they have left within them.

Killzone 3's story will also be a lot more light-hearted as compared to its predecessor which Guerrilla felt suffered from an overly serious and dark story which was one of the major complaints of the original, though they mentioned that it would not be too light-hearted as it is still a war. In addition, Guerrilla Games has also hired an external writer to focus on only writing the story-line so as to give a fresh perspective to the story as well as hiring a lot more Hollywood actors to elevate the level of storytelling within the dialogue of the game. Guerrilla Games has also mentioned that the game's story will be an integral part of the game with dialogue and character development being greatly improved from its 2009 predecessor.

Gameplay:

The gameplay will strongly resemble that of Killzone 2 albeit with several tweaks and changes. Unlike previous games in the series, the game will take place in various harsh environments such as Arctic landscapes, a lethal alien jungle, nuclear wastelands as well as space battles rather than only the city-scape environment which were present in its predecessors. Another notable new feature is the ability to use jet packs in the game, which were seen in Killzone: Liberation, however, these new jet packs will be used in a different manner than that of those that appeared in Killzone: Liberation. The game will also feature a revamped close combat melee system which include new brutal melee attacks as well as the ability to string together multiple attacks in a combo. Unlike its predecessor, Killzone 3 will feature fully destructible environments which is an improvement from its predecessor which featured only partially destructible environments in limited areas. A new weapon called the Wasp has also been revealed, which acts as a multi-firing Rocket Launcher.

Killzone 2 was poo. I really REALLY hated the controls. Found them way too loose and very hard to aim. If they can fix that huge issue maybe I'll give it a chance.

How were the controls 'loose' ? I found KZ2 to have brilliant controls which brought a sense of realism with running, focusing on targets, reloading e.t.c plus multiplayer was the best I've played on PS3, way better than the hugely overrated MW2.

When I say loose I mean it's bloody hard to aim from target to target. When you have 5-10 guys rushing you then it becomes extremely frustrating. Changing the sensitivity either makes the aiming way too loose or way too sluggish, there's no in between. Gave the game 2 chances and now I'm done with it. If they can fix that issue I may give it a chance, but for now I'm not even slightly interested. Also, I find Uncharted 2's online way better than Killzone 2 and MW2.

The controls in K2 just took time to get used too. A lot of halo fans can't stand because it is a bit sluggish on the aiming side, but if you're playing k2 you're probably not big into Halo.

Killzone 2 is Really shit. I hated the controls. But hope the next one is good, Get loose and very difficult to achieve. If they can not solve this big problem, maybe I will give it a try.

Finally someone who agrees with me! Well in an interview one of the developers said they would be fixing the sluggish controls to make it a easier to run and gun. That comment changed my stance from no way in hell am I playing this game to getting the demo and trying it out. Like I said, I didn't enjoy the last two Killzone games at all so it's an uphill battle for the developers to get me on board for the third.

Also, I'm not a fan of Halo either. Fun to play time to time with a friend, but by no means do I give in to the hype.

No, FPS is my realm, those are the games that I'm actually good at, and that game was shit. The controls were so god damn sluggish, you would constantly weave back and forth over a target trying to shoot his head. It was retarded. I heard they released a patch that supposedly fixed that, but the developers admitted that they made it like that "on purpose" to make it more realistic. Whatever, shitty controls are shitty controls, realism is fine and dandy, but gameplay needs to be part of that equation too. Look at early rainbow six, one of the most realistic shooters ever, and the controls were fine.

Fuck that game. I'll give 3 a try, but I'm not buying it for sure, thank god for gamefly.

See, I really can't stand comments like this. When you make a comment like "sounds like people who think KZ2 was shit and hated the controls just couldn't play the game properly" it just sounds like you're trying to make an excuse to justify your stance. Glad you enjoy the game, but don't try and claim superiority over people who justly disgree with you and have legit complaints about how the game controls.

Killzone 2 was okay, but nothing special for me. I am not too interested in Killzone 3 but I might pick it up if I hear good things from friends. I personally am not the biggest fan of FPS unless it's the original Bioshock, Call of Duty 4 or Borderlands. Those are the FPS that I really enjoyed playing. Killzone 2 was okay, but once I finished it, I found little need to play it anymore. I tried the online and I stopped after a week.

I am hoping Killzone 3 proves to be a great game, but I can only wait and see. Personally, I am more looking forward to INfamous 2 and Little Big Planet 2, when it comes to Playstation exclusives.

Was a joke dude hence ' :-D ' , no malice intended :-)

However cant understand all the hatin since the game got an average of 90.13% on Game Rankings based on 79 reviews which included praise for the multiplayer, as a huge fan of FPS games I would agree with this assessment, epic story and gameplay. Plus I liked the heavy feel of the controls (the dude was wearing a lot of armour and carried a huge gun), prefer it than the overly fast pace of CoD 4 and the likes. Ah well each to their own I guess.

Anyway since this thread is about Killzone 3, trailer from E3:

Ok, no worries. Like I said earlier, devs said they're making the controls tighter for Killzone 3 and for that reason I'll be at least getting the demo. But, like many have said before just because a game is rated high doesn't mean it's for everyone. I like my shooters faster paced with tight controls.

I'm going to try the demo after I beat Dead Space 2. My buddy tried it and said it's pretty much the same as Killzone 2 so I'm going in not expecting much from it.

It always takes a lot of screwing around in the options to get the controls right for me, but once I do I enjoy it quite a bit.

I've been playing the Beta alot since it hit the PSN on February. It seems like the dudes at Guerrilla have been playing alot of Halo Reach.
