PG ... I ... I didn't know you cared... <3

Oh, how I do love sharing the same opinion.

I tend to not pay much attention when people say Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game in the series. Yeah, it launched the franchise into 3D, but, um ... yeah, that's about it. It's a good game, but Wind Waker is easily the best of the "new" Zelda titles. Twilight Princess (AKA Ocarina of Time 2.5) can rot in a 12-foot-hole deep in a forest somewhere with a giant rock covering it.

Twilight princess was an alright game, but it just makes me sleepy and bored whenever I play it. Beat it once, I can't beat it again without taking 40 or 50 naps.

For me, Ocarina was not an interesting game to play. After I beat Dodongo cavern, I stopped playing the game. Forever. Twilight Princess was a boring game to play and it's not much better with it being clocked up to at least forty hours. I think Wind Waker is the best game in the franchise and to anyone who said it sucked because of the graphics is so retarded.

Yeah.

Wind Waker was the best 3D Zelda. A Link to the Past was the best 2D Zelda.

Ocarina of Time will probably always be my favorite Zelda followed very closely behind by A Link To The Past. (I actually remember skipping my 6th grade graduation party to play LTTP when I was 13).

When it comes to Wind Waker...I never understood all the whining some people did over the graphics. I liked the new look. My only complaints over WW was that there wasn't enough dungeons and having that dumb triforce fetch quest near the end of the game.

When it comes to Twilight Princess...meh. It's not bad, but I feel like I've played that game before. I prefer Okami and maybe even Beyond Good & Evil over it.

I was never a big fan of the Zelda franchise, and I sometimes fail to see why some gamers worship it like some sort of god, but I suppose it's all about opposing tastes at the end of the day.

I think it's a little unfair to pass judgment on OoT before you become adult Link, if you're a fan of the series that is. There are several interesting dungeons that you're missing.

I've seen the ending and I wasn't interested in continuing on.

While I'm a huge fan of Zelda, it really doesn't bother me to see people (such as yourself) not being a fan.

I draw the comparison to the Metal Gear series. I can't stand playing Metal Gear, it's just not my kind of game, but I at least acknowledge that, like the Zelda series, it was quite revolutionary, bringing new things to games that would be built upon and emulated for years to come.

Different games for different people. If we all liked the same thing, everyone would be pretty boring.

That's the thing though ... The Zelda games bring barely anything new to the table with each game. One or two things, and a graphics update, but that's basically it.

Wind Waker tried something new, and the Zelda fanbase went absolutely fucking ballistic over it. And because of the deeply-insane fanbase, even Zelda 2 is getting flack -- and both WW and Zelda 2 are fantastic games.

People didn't like Wind Waker because of the graphics. :uhh:

What a shame, because I thought WW Link was the most expressive and coolest Link ever.

Bask on, man. Bask on.

The only thing I couldn't stand was.
Spoiler
Sailing around for the Tri-Force pieces near the end.

And there was also my fear of large bodies of water, so at times it was a little hard to play.
Those god damned giant squids didn't help, either...
I eventually got through it, though.

It took me a while to get through Majora's Mask, too.
Mostly because of the parts before The Great Bay temple.

It also seems in some Nintendo games you have to do a pointless fetch quest near the end. There was something like that in Metroid Prime 3.

I remember that in Prime 3... it wasn't TOO bad though, as I had much of the fetch quest stuff on me throughout the whole game. The fetch quest in WW halted my playing...I really should give it another go.

I grew up on the Zelda franchise, playing it since I was 2 so I'm naturally quite the fan. My favorite 3d one is perhaps Majoras Mask, but all of them have had many many sweet, memorable moments, so it is so tough to narrow it down. Then, LttP is definitely my favorite 2d one, with the original tailing it.

As much as I love Zelda, and as great as Twilight Princess was,, the once revolutionary OoT system that they've been using is getting quite old, and I fear that they may be milking the franchise a bit. The next Zelda is going to have to be very different if you ask me. I really think they've gotten far easier too. That whole "the item you find in the dungeon will kick their ass" thing didn't happen so often in the previous games, and perhaps it was since I was very young, but some of the boss battles in LttP were really tough.

Much like Metroid, Zelda didn't get many games out between its 4th and 5th game, and since OoT came out, there's been a whole lotta Zelda. Metroid was like that when we saw nothing until Prime, and it feels as if both franchises can go stale unless they get changed up a bit.

Hey guys, is it pretty safe to assume that OoT was simply just a tech demo for Majora's Mask????

OoT was a plot devised to create Link x Sheik fanfiction.

To me, there are two Zelda games that will always stick out in my mind for being awesome.

LoZ: LA - The first handheld game of the series, the story blessfully deviated away from Princess Zelda to focus more on our brave (and vaguely homosexual) hero, Link, and his attempt to escape from Koholint Isle. While the dungeons were mostly typical - with a couple of them bordering on downright cruelty for difficulty, BITE ME EAGLE TOWER - and it still involved the traditional "go kill things to get 8 Magical Items" storyline, they at least tried to change things around. Link's Awakening also gave us the first Trading Sequence in the series, starting with an innocent Yoshi Doll and ending with the Magnifying Glass, an item that allowed Link to passively find hidden things in the world, including the moblinesque critter that would give you the Boomerang, which was easily the most OP item you could get ahold of until the Magic/Flame Rod in Turtle Rock. Plus, I think we can all agree that the Tal Tal Heights background music and the Ballad of the Wind Fish were epic victories. The GBC remix removed a couple things that I was glad to see gone (like the blink across the screen and glitch trick), and introduced a brand new dungeon with fairly decent rewards.

LoZ: Majora's Mask - I remember this game getting a LOT of flack back when I first got it, but in my opinion, Majora's Mask is the better of the N64-era games, and really shows what OoT could have been. At only four dungeons (and thus Four Magical MacGuffins), it was certainly shorter than the other games if you wanted to just zoom through to the end of the game, but the true strength of the game is in the sidequests and NPCs. You just don't see this kind of development in Zelda games anymore; Majora's Mask attempted to make every character seem important and real. Be it the owner of the Honey Pot Inn, Anju, or the family that lived in the Music Box House of Ikana Canyon, they made sure to make every character have a purpose, and it almost always made you want to help them. While it was admittedly frustrating to have all of your hard work go to waste when you reset time, it was also an incredible way to remind you (the player) that you were not just doing this to settle things with the Skull Kid, but to save the people around you, as well.

As was mentioned, the clock is perhaps the biggest detractor to MM; it was more than a little bit difficult to do even the stuff you HAD to do in the game, let alone find time to save a failing relationship, stop aliens from abducting the cows of Romani Ranch, or even help two dancers perfect their routine! And even WITH the song to slow the passage of time, it can feel like you're being rushed, but...that's what I loved about it. It felt more realistic than a lot of other games, where you can spend three hours juggling rabbits off a cliff while the main love interest hangs on by a thread to life. So, the clock wasn't that big of a pain.

The Great Bay Temple and Gyorg (the third boss) specifically? It can pucker up and make friends with my bouncy, swollen, navy blue...

...I've been informed I can't finish that thought. But yeah, hate Great Bay Temple. I dislike it more than the OoT Water Temple, Jabu Jabu's Belly (and swimming in general with the Mermaid Suit) from Oracle of Ages, and that stupid puzzle to bring the fourth floor down in Eagle Tower combined. And I downright HATE that puzzle in Eagle Tower!

So yeah, MM is #1 on my Favorite Zelda Games list, with LA (DX) being second.
