Now there have been many complaints regarding this and why/how Nintendo messed this up is beyond me. And the thing is, Snes and N64 VC games(for example) look perfectly like they did on their original Systems Colorwise...And if you're using Component cables for your Wii(Which you should be, unless you're insane) then you get even more colorful vibrant colors and of course a sharper/clearer brighter picture...Yet the VC Nes games for some reason have a Darker, Muddier and Blander colored look to them. The Legend of Zelda is the worst candidate for this....Even Screwattack made a video about this called 'Dark Zelda'...And try playing VC Nes games using composite cables, it's terrible....even the upgrade to component can't even match the original nes games colors.

Now here's the thing, why doesn't Nintendo fix this and give the Nes VC games their true color by creating a new FirmWare update that you can download. All you would have to do after downloading that, is delete the current Nes title you have and then re-download them for free off the VC, and whalla! you get their true Nes colors/brightness....and of course they will look even better using component cables.

Also, for example....A normal vibrant colored RED would like this in an Nes Game > RED
But for a VC Nes game, it looks like this > RED

If Nintendo fixed this Color/Brightness problem for their Nes VC games, i'd be stoked. :omg:
And it would be so easy to fix.

I agree with this, My version of SMB3 for the Wii has odd colors, and not like I remember them on the NES.

I'm all for this idea. I wish that the colors looked right. I don't get why its just the NES games.

Nope, I've heard the same thing before. I have an nes, and have tried it on 3 different tvs and the same goes for my Wii...Nes VC titles have darker, duller colors period.

I think it does matter, when your paying for something you expect a full working product, If i buy a NES game on the VC I expect it to look and play just like the same game would on a NES.

thats the same thing as saying does it really matter that games are put out with bugs in them? hell yes it does, you paid for a working product, and a working product is what you should recieve.

Exactly, and the thing is playing Nes VC titles just isn't as fun or as beautiful to look at because of the inferior colors, at least for me anyways. :-? Like i said, I don't know how nintendo could of messed this up, but it can easily be fixed.

can you provide screen shots of these please?
i could confirm these myself but since i only have GALAGA on my VC in the NES CAT i can't compare.
tricky fellow you are. TV's have something called CONTRAST you may not even realize it but it BRIGHTENS colors all TV's have it. Ever think that previous TVs were fine tuned to have brighter color with the contrast and brightness feature? hell i can make my NES games look like shit with all that. all you are doing is bitching about a simple feature that all TV's had.

I noticed that it's the same problem with N64 games. Super Mario 64 looks much darker than the original.

hi,
I got this problem with my VC games. all the color isn't right. whats happening is when i play them on my TV the colors are darker then usual. i don't know what the deal is you fucked up a product fix it for me. Another thing, when i play it on my other TV all i can get is a greystyle picture on my screen i tried to get the image corrected but i still can't get COLOR what am i doing wrong? also the colors are quite bland and boring where is the life that these games once had? I remember coming home back in the day and loading up my game and the colors come alive! it was MAGICAL. now those care free days of beautiful color is Stagnant where has it gone? When i use HIGH DEF cables the picture worsens on my big screen TV and it looks really bad. did i mention the blandcolors? they are INFERIOR! i don't care if the game is 100% playable i want the right colors for my damn games. what is wrong with you nintendo? get your shit right and make these colors BEAUTIFUL again.

Sincerely,
Frustrated gamer

Spoiler
there is something called a COLOR PALLETE almost all emulators have some type of them the rom in turn has coloring assignment and can be changed through an address that shows the colors that are used most notable is NESTICLE where you can bring up the color palette like so and fuck with the colors.
Perfect Example:Image

Wrong.
Lets say you adjust the color while playing one of your VC Nes Games(which you shouldn't have to, to begin with)
with the gamma, brightness, color, tint ect whatever....And you're somewhat satisfied...Now what happens is when you go back to your Wii menu, all of the other 'normal' and perfectly colored titles(Snes, N64, Mii Channel, Photo Channel, Wii/GCN Channel ect, whatever else you have on your Wii channel besides VC Nes games) look worse because you upped the Color, brightness, gamma, tint ect....Then you have to fix the colors again and make them normal...and you're back to square one with the blander darker colored looking VC games....For real, the VC nes games are messed 'color wise', there's no need to say i'm wrong, because i'm right. I'm obviously not the only one complaining.

Nintendo screwed up, yet it would be so easy to fix....This is one of the reason why i think it's a waste to download VC Nes games, but on the upside you get a nicer clearer image using Wii Component cables...But really the ugly colors hamper the experience...Zelda and Super Mario bros 3 come to mind.

you know i tried i gave a legit answer to the problem. take it as you may but you don't really have to say i'm wrong about it even though i gave facts to you right in the face. All you are doing is complaining when i asked for a side by side comparison. Words are not doing justice here i wanted to see PICS man thats all i was asking here.

You're right. And I can't see myself blowing anymore money on VC titles...I'd rather have the actual cart and play it on the system it was ment for. And besides, you really don't get that nostalgiac experience when playing VC games on the Wii anyways...especially when playing on a widescreen HDTV(not that i do)And as funny as it sounds, i pretty much baught a bunch of VC titles to fill up my Wii menu, and it looks pretty rad now because of it, minus the dark nes game colors.ugh But ya, I have around 10 VC games, but that's enough, No more.

As for WiiWare, that's a different story, Mega Man 9 please :yuush:

Who said the gameplay is wrong? it's the COLORS. man i've done tons of comparissons, it's unbelievably easy to notice, it's like night and day. And if you want a true fair comparison.....Have the nes and wii both hooked up and using Compostie Cables(since that's the best possible picture for the 'Nes) and you tell me if there isn't a difference :uhh: And i dont have a camera to post pics up, i would if i had one
