let me start by saying I didnt read the entire reviews yet, so perhaps this is answered there, but I just got this months game informer, and was flipping through it, and saw that halo reach was game of the month with a 9.5 not surprising really, I continue flipping through the pages and come across the star craft 2 review, which gets a perfect 10 / 10.

whats up with that? maybe I am reading into it wrong, but wouldnt game of the month ( I assume the best game of the month? ) be the 10 / 10 not the 9.5 out of 10? the scores say starcraft is the better game, but game of the month says halo reach is.

strange shit.

Seriously though, I would assume so, but isn't Starcraft 2 a July (or 'cuz it was so late maybe August) release? Why the fuck would it be in Game Informer for a September issue? Or, on the flipside, why the fuck would Reach be Game of the Month in August when it just came out yesterday? What the tits it doesn't make sense no matter how you're looking at it.

I think most magazines are behind with there starcraft 2 reviews since they didn't give pre release copies. The latest Pc gamer also has a sc2 review.

Ah, well, that might explain it then. Starcraft 2 can't be game of the month because it wasn't released this month.

More importantly, why hasn't Gayme Informer died a well-deserved fiery death yet? I don't just mean the business folding, I mean a literal fire in the offices burning the writers to death. I'd pay for front-row seats.

If you mean "funny" as in "it's laughable how shamelessly they suck sponsor cock and do hack reviews" then yeah, I can see that.

Or in a way that's like "not funny ha ha, funny queer."

Game Informer has stepped up their game recently and they're a pretty good mag now. They've kinda grown up and become more serious. There reviews are also more fair, though they still get hard-ons for FPS games.

Gameinformer has been my favorite gaming magazine ever since they waaaaaay back did a big fancy exclusive thing for RE3 when it came out. It was very cool.

I'm sure it has something to do with when they receive their review copies. Some companies send out review copies to certain companies weeks or a month in advance for them to get a review on to hype the actual release. Other companies send out retail copies so the reviews are behind. Anyways, fuck all that shit, Scott Pilgrim The Game rules ass.

The sad thing is I had that I took it in the car with me all the time for at least a straight month.

Just got mine today. Check the Starcraft review again. Even though Reach took up the spotlight page, SC2 is there too. It has both Game of the Month and Platninum (whatever that means). It even says it got game of the Month for PC. Reach got it for consoles.

they always do multiple game of the months, for PC, consoles, handheld etc, and the "main" game of the month page and the one that gets top billing is always what they deem the better game, I went back through 2 + years of old game informers and never saw a instance where any game that was game of the month received a lower score then another review ( console / pc specific GOTM or not ).

Game Informer gave Guilty Gear X and Capcom vs SNK 2 low scores simply because they weren't 3D.... fuck them.
