Depends on how it's handled. I'd be fine if it was some bonus deal with AC: Brotherhood, where it's almost like it's own entire game, but if it's like... I dunno... Crackdown, where I go to a specific planet and it's like "lol, please log in to x-box live to do this co-op mission." I'm going to throw a fit, I want to see all the game has to offer but I don't want to be forced into situations just to get more non-main story or get some cool weapon or armor or whatever.

4 player? Isn't your squad made up of 3 people? So would the 4th player be another Shepard?

I believe it's to be a mode onto itself.

Sounds more like it is going to be a stand alone Horde type of mode. Considering Mass Effect plays like Gears of War with Jedi powers in the mix, I could see that working out.

Am I the only one who doesn't like this?
I mean, Mass Effect 1 was fantastic, it was a great RPG that I had fun with, Mass Effect 2 was still good, but it felt like Bioware was streamlining the game for the idiots who RPGs are too complicated for. Now the implementation of a cooperative mode just makes it seem like Bioware is trying to turn Mass Effect into a Third Person Shooter. I'm aware that co-op can be done well in an RPG, but for one like Mass Effect with guns and ammo (even though there shouldn't be any ammo to begin with, but let's not get into that) a co-op mode just sounds like it would be a Halo-esque co-op campaign, just in Third Person. I hope Bioware proves me wrong though.

Oh yes please bring back the clunky ME1 menus. I loved trying to compare every little equipment augment to try to figure out what minor modifier it had and if that was better than the 200 others I had. And please keep the limited inventory space because I loved not being able to pick up any new spoils and opening my menu to inform me that I picked up 50 new bits of junk loot that I would have to sort and liquadate. Oh and also make it really hard to ever make it back to a shop to actually be able to sell all that junk loot especially during the last third of the game when you are planetside mid-mission and locked out of the citidal.

Mass Effect one was great but far from perfect. There was a lot of fat that was trimmed off and for the most part the sequel was better because of it. Except for the addition of planet scanning, fu(< that for a game of soldiers.

Fox, I'm with you there on the equipment, but I think ME2 trimmed WAY too much fat. It needs to have SOME depth to the system beyond "You get 3 or 4 guns, we don't even tell you what their stats are, just give you a description and then you figure it out." They hid all the numbers, which sucks, because that's sort of important in a game with RPG mechanics. Also, outfits just need to be customizable with buffs AND looks. Bring back those "slots" so you can modify your armor and bullets and such, that shit was awesome and fun. Maybe have 3 ranks of those gem slot items instead of like... 70+ ranks of it.

I really doubt the co-op exists anyway, because you can never balance those things for differently leveled characters.

I'm also going to have to say that ME1 had too much equipment. It would have been more manageable if there was some sort of "sort inventory" option, but everything was just thrown in together... The shops were a huge issue. Why couldn't they make tabs for different items? That was a pet peeve of mine for the entire game.

As for ME2: basically, what Link wrote.

I'm guessing it was a lot better on the PC, just like Dragon Age's was.

I have to say, I didn't have much of an issue with any of that stuff from ME1...I still think it's the superior game on just about every level. It actually felt like, y'know, an RPG, and not Gears of Space War. ME2 is still good, but felt like a step backward to me.

From what I've seen (keep in mind I'm on a self imposed ME3 blackout) it looks like they're adding more rpg to their rpg. Things like gun tweaking and that. I'll play it regardless because I love the fiction but it could do with more RPG. Otherwise, you get stuck with a DA2 situation where it's way too streamlined.

in ME1 i rarely ever even looked at 90% of the gear I got, if i found a decent gun or armor that sounded like a upgrade I would check it out, otherwise it all went straight to omni gel w/o even so much as a peak at it.

I do agree though ME2 took it too far in the other direction, hopefully ME3 can strike just the right balance of RPG and accessibility.

Multiplayer more or less confirmed in an Australian Mag.

I am really upset about this. Right now it's "optional content" that has no bearing on the main story, but so were all the other shitty little assignments, etc. you did in the other MEs. So, in order for me to get the most out of the game I'll have to play online most likely. Maybe they'll be 3rd Person Shooter action arenas without any plot... then I won't give as much of a shit I guess.

i still can't fined any reliable evidence for a steam release, but most of what I' finding is that there will be a standard edition released on Steam (which is all I want) but no deluxe edition, which will only be available on Origin, along with the standard editions. now, hopefully the Steam editions will still allow the purchase and play of DLC, I don't think EA is stupid enough to kick Steam users in the balls that hard. maybe I'm just being a fanboy, I don't know. All I know is that I don't need another freaking online library on my computer, especially for a single game.
