way later down the road like say a couple years from now after mass effect 3 is out and the story is done, they should continue the story with a new game showing us the back story for captain anderson or the illusive man. that would be kickass, or maybe have a game based around when the alliance first made contact with the first alien species.

It's time to start reading. Two novels and an upcoming comic already covered those stories.

ya i figured they were already talked about in books but.... i dont read novels anymore (i just do a lot of online reading lol) and they should at least do something with it in video game form, i mean isnt mass effect kind of like a novel anyways what with all the dialogue and text.

XD

the last book i read was in the 8th grade and this was the book.

If it's one thing I've learned from Warcraft/Blizzard, who seem to have started the trend, is once you have a back-story tie-in novel, it never gets done in a game format, it just instantly becomes canonical and will be referenced in the games.

Mass Effect 4 will be moving forward, not backwards. I fully expect a "100 years later" or even "50 years later" sort of deal where your main character is dead and you're playing as an entirely new character.

holy shit........ i just beat mass effect 2 and..... wow

Spoiler
jacob, jack and thane died and at the end i decided to keep the collector base in tact so it will be interesting to see how that plays out in mass effect 3. will the illusive man get greedy and use that technology to make humans the dominate power in the galaxy or will he use to kill the reapers. damn such a great ending, im so excited for mass effect 3 now.

Well, there's only a few DLC worth downloading, and I'll be completely honest that if you didn't buy the Kasumi DLC before you beat the game, it's a moot point to recruit her, unless of course you buy her DLC and then you buy the rest of the DLC too so you can make more use of her.

I have a feeling that the Liara DLC coming out is going to be the BIGGEST thing for ME2 in quite some time, as it will actually CONTINUE the storyline.

Sorry to all you PS3 owners out there who are getting fucked over by not being able to play Mass Effect 1.

This further backs up my feelings that EA is destroying Bioware. Sure, their games are great, but "quality control and common sense" is taking a back seat to "making money and getting bitches".

This. You really need to play through the first game to get the full ME experience I think.

meh, I think mass effect 2 holds up pretty good on it's own. I mean ya, you get a better playing experience if you import your save files from the first but mass effect 2 is still pretty fun on it's own.

It's fun regardless. The story however is mired in continuity.

- Who are the Reapers/Geth/Collectors?
- Who are Joker, Liara, Wrex, Ashley, Kaiden, Tali, etc.
- Why do I care that the Normandy got blown up?
- Who are these Elcor and why do they talk funny?
- Why aren't there male Asari?
- Who are the council? What happened to the Citadel? Who is Captain Anderson and that other political jackass?
- What's the genophage?

Like, there's just ALL this shit that's covered in ME1, that isn't covered that well in ME2. It's like trying to watch Episode VI of Star Wars as your first Star Wars movie ever and pretending like you know what the fuck is going on and who is who. Sure, it may be a fun movie, and sure those Ewoks may be pretty darn cute, but you're going to be fucking clueless.

if people are really confused they can just read through the codex entries.

I feel sorry for the PS3 players who have to be stuck with the god awful Vanilla game rather than importing their own ME 1 campaign
