I come up with crazy archtypes or character ideas for when I try to make multiple characters. Like, in Fallout 3 I had this evil Raider type character, he was proficient in melee and just murdered entire cities with a sledgehammer and stuff. It was pretty fun.

I also had a "geeky klutz" sort of character, which was enhanced even more by a "glasses" mod where you NEEDED to wear glasses, and if they fell off or became unequipped everything would be blurry and your accuracy would drastically decrease. Plus, I'd usually flip a coin to make my decisions, to see if she failed at something or not IE. disarming the bomb in Megaton, haha.

That is awesome! In my last Fallout 3 playthrough I was probably the biggest douche in the wasteland. I would go to someone to buy a new weapon, give them the money, equip the weapon and murder them and get my money back. I did that for a few missions too as I remember you couldn't actually "complete" a mission or get the achievement if you straight out killed the person... so I waited until later and got my money back after killing them. I must have had 20,000 caps at the end of that playthrough! Ah, being a dick in RPGs is so much fun!

Okay so I have a question about Mass Effect 2 as I might be getting it soon. Is it better to import a character from the first game or make a new one. I'm leaning more towards the former as decisions carry on over which should make for interesting scenarios.

Import all the way. Otherwise it's like you're playing a story that's not your own.

Okay I got the game today and just by reading the manual, there looks like there is a lot to do in this game.

'eh, it is a lot, but it depends on if you do everything or if you do the main story or what. ME1 is actually kind of short in some ways.

Okay now I'm having trouble activating the Cerberus network code. It keeps saying it's invalid so am I entering it wrong or do I not have an EA account? It says I can create an EA account in Mass Effect 2 but I don't see it anywhere so was it the term of agreements or something to create it?

Note: I remember creating an EA account when I got Battlefield 1943 but I changed my email for the Xbox recently. So am I now screwed over?

Edit: The code also has hyphens in it but they are not showing up when entering the code and all the B's are lower case while the other letters are shown capital.

Sure they're B's and not 6s?

Anyways, so you bought ME2? I'm confused, have you played ME1? If not, stop what you're doing and go get a cheap (like 10 bucks) copy of ME1 and play that first.

I certainly did play Mass Effect One or I otherwise wouldn't be playing this.

And if they are 6s and not Bs, I will have to sit in the corner for being a dummy... :-(

So after waiting a long time for all the DLC to download I finally played the game and went with my good character from ME1. I decided to make Shepard an Infiltrator as I never used the class in the first game. I only beat the first part of the game so far.

playing mass effect 2 for the first time now and i have to say it is a fantastic game. i really wish they didnt change some of the gameplay mechanics from the first. the action is more easier to control and fluent and the squad menu screens are also a lot more simpler but they achieved that by taking away all of the different guns, armor, biotic amps, upgrades and what not. all im saying is that they could have kept things the same and added minor tweaks to the combat and came up with an easier way to equip party members and add skill points rather than changing the controls and taking away most of the RPG elements from the first. there are also some things in mass effect 2 that just seem pointless like scanning planets or having to buy fuel while in the galaxy map. also the text is still very small and sometimes while in the conversation wheel i cant read some of the text because it blends in with the objects in the backround if they are white. anyways these are minor flaws that i wish they can fix in the third game. mass effect 2 is still an amazing game and for me they did one thing right, the story and dialogue, that's what i loved about mass effect 1 and that's what i love about this game. miranda is sexy and mordin is pretty badass lol.

XD

I think they need to find a happy medium with equipment. Not as much bullshit to wade through like in ME1, but have enough choices (especially Ammo types and stuff to modify your guns or different types of Amps.) Also, showing stats on weapons would be nice. I was so clueless in ME2 as to what was a better gun.

agreed. they need to take the equip menu from mass effect 1 and modify the layout so its easy to keep track of who has what and cut back a little on the amount of items to equip, so it doesn't ever get overwhelming. as for the combat, its better than the first but i really think they could have kept the same controls and done minor tweaks to make it fluent and easy to use as well. I liked all of the RPG elements from mass effect 1, hopefully they bring them back for mass effect 3.

Spoiler
it would also be pretty badass if they brought back ashley or kaiden through project lazarus

No

I REALLY hated both of those characters. I honestly had to take a minute to figure out which one of them I wanted to die more in the first game.

meh i thought kaiden was pretty cool, most of the time he was calm. as for ashley, it seems like most of the shit coming out of her mouth was her whining or complaining.

I miss the epic scale of ME1, the Citadel was much more interesting. Although ME2 was still a great game it felt too linear. In ME3 if they can combine both it'll be brilliant.

Oh and the new DLC, Lair of the Shadow Broker, sounds promising (YAY Liara!)
