I am not an achievement whore, in fact I have never gotten 1000 / 1000 on any game, I'd be surprised if I got 500 / 1000 on any previous game, its just not something that im motivated to really try and do or even care about, that being said...

I am playing through on insanity now, that and the incineration achievements are the only 2 I have left to earn 1000 / 1000, this game was that good, that I - who rather dislike achievements - felt driven to get 1000 / 1000.

I am about 1/4 of the way through my 3rd play through, and this game still rocks my face off every time I turn it on.

:zombie:

Well, achievements are pretty easy to unlock in this game. I unlocked most of the achievements doing one playthrough, and all the others besides insanity seem well within my grasp post end-game if I really care to get them. Though, unlike Mass Effect 1, none of the achievements really unlock anything.

I was watching a rerun of chuck today, it blows my mind how much they got Miranda to look like Yvonne Strahovski, I knew they modeled the character after her, and she did the voice work, but its uncanny just how good of a job they did right down to the little mannerisms, they did such a good job while watching this rerun of chuck I kept thinking of her as Miranda haha.

I got 890 in my first playthru.
Just missing two of the 25 associated ones, beating it on insanity and hitting level 30.

Pretty sure I will ONLY be missing the "beat it on insane" achievement... MAYBE I'll lose out on some ability ones, depending on my party structure.

man, the mission where you have to rescue garus is brutal on insanity, its not so much that the waves of guys are hard, I can usually get my way through that by being patient and taking cover, what makes it hard is that your on a timer, the longer you take the less life he gets, and if you dont hurry he dies so you dont have the option to be patient, after about 6 or 7 tries though I managed to eek through with just enough life left to finish the mission.

Too bad you just can't NOT recruit people.

I guess beating loyalty missions unlocks any loyalty power as a bonus power available at the start in a new game playthrough.

Weirdest damn thing happened.

I just beat ME1 with infiltrator. Throughout the whole game I had Garrus and Wrex (save for noveria which i replaced garrus for the asari.) And I never got my "Did 75% of the game with X class" not even for krogan and wrex never left my party practically.

WTF.... Are they broken?

Also infiltrator was awesome for taking down 97% of the enemies. Only the geth colossus, end boss, and drop ships gave me trouble. The whole game was me sitting back at a safe distance going "POW ha ha!" Things especially improved when i got the spectre sniper rifle, it practically never shook after the initial settle down, even when moving.

Think i might do a full renegade next. See how things change for the other side of the fence.

Not sure what class though, infiltrator was fun and i remember soldier being fun too.

Achievements aren't broken. I got the one for Liara (hardest one to get) no problem.

I just never switched out my party members until I got the achievements.

I am doing that one now, the last stretch before you get to okeer is a motherfucker, every group of guys has 3 or 4 with rocket launchers and they just liquefy my squad no matter what I do with them or where I try and stash them , I usually end up having to very slowly whittle away at their health by my self , which is hard as balls cause everytime one of them pops up theres 3 rockets flying at your face, and their damn shields keep regenerating .

good times :bruised:

Man I loved this game, I could go for ages about how much I enjoyed it but right now I'm replaying the first as my own person so I can replay ME2 as my own, I couldn't wait to replay the first and jumped right into the sequel, in one interview Bioware said play it twice at least, one as your own and one as Biowares take on it with the major decisions premade, I did that and while some choices erked me (they chose Udina the annoying basterd and killed Wrex (NOOO!!!!) overall I enjoyed it alot, and now I'm excited to do it my own way (punched the reporter in the first, excited to do it again in ME2, haha.) In the end I got all the members loyal except for Jack (choose Mirander over her and couldn't win her back with speech) I used Tali for tech, Garrus for both second teams, Grunt to escort survivors and Samara for the long walk shielder, I also had the ship fully upgraded and Mordin and Jack and had there special tech upgrade things. for the final boss (THE FUCKING TERMINATOR!) I took in Mirander and Jack, Mirander was fine but Jack died after the battle (likely because she wasn't loyal) Shepperd lived and I'm pumped for the finale but I'll be playing ME2 alot more soon enough once ME1 is finished. There's so much more I could talk about but it'll take too long to type, WALL-O-TEXT ALERT.

But I think it would be cool for Tom, Mike and Andy (Any of the crew who finished ME2 really, to do a show on Mass Effect 2 to discuss there thoughts but with spoilers, so obviously no one who hasn't finished it should listen, they could give us a heads up on it and let the community call in to share there thoughts on it as well. Just thought that'd be a cool idea

if you have enough renegade / paragon options as soon as you bust in on miranda and jacks fight choose the red or blue option and it puts an end to it right there, I was able to choose both on my respective playthroughs to keep both loyal with somewhere around 2 bubbles into the appropriate alignment, if you pick a side you CAN win them back, but you have to full to the max renegade or paragon

yeah, I tried to get Jack back like that, but my paragon/renegade levels weren't high enough I guess, so I couldn't resole the issue or get Jack back, kinda made for a bitter sweet ending though losing Jack in the final fight, made the story feel more real, rather than "oh look we blew shit up, defeated the collectors, rescued the crew and everything's happy again", having just one member die was pretty impactuful, I like how after the game ends, it continues on, and whichever characters died are unable to be used as squad members.

by the way, anyone else kinda surprised to learn the collectors were the protheans, but were mutilated and heavily modified into these slave creatures, also, what were people's thoughts on Legion, kinda bugged he came in later in the story, but if he survived at least he's still around after the story ended and you can talk to him then. oh, and out of curiosity, who hooked up with Tali? I went with the generic and picked Miranda but im curious to see who went with Tali.

Great game. Good visuals over the first. Though I don't like the characters much this time around.

Garrus and Tali are great...because they were from the first game.

Miranda annoys me, Jacob is mr bland, Jack and Zaeed are very unlikable characters.

Mordin is cool though.

Also I had to do a play through of Mass Effect to carry stuff over. The default galactic changes is terrible.

Due to an 'incident' have to to replay the whole game again...

And I was in the final stretch too.

EDIT: Disregard that, I recovered my old save and beat it.

Overall good.

Spoiler
The ending climax though wasn't as good as the first game though.
