Spoiler
I think bone was a poor choice of wording when talking about Joker :teehee:

[Spoiler]Apparently there's some information that's been leaked on a Terminator DLC and the next mass effect release. If it's true...I hate you, Bioware.

If its that thing about Shepard coming back to life but it's actually the catalyst in his body and EDI is in his head now too, its probably fake.

I really didn't find the ending that offensive or great. It was just meh to me. To be honest, the only one I'd be happy owning is the second one. I'd be fine with that.

I'm going to be different and say that I really enjoyed the ending. I went Green in case you guys were wondering.

Spoiler
Thinking about my sacrifice, for all my friends, etc. got me really teary eyed. Then I thought about my love interest (Liara, who I think they did a GREAT job building our relationship through all 3 games) and how she'd handle things with me gone, etc. It was just extremely emotional for me. As for everything post-that, with people emerging from the Normandy, etc. well, that's probably my biggest confusion, and as for "omg how they here and now there?" that wasn't even a concern. They weren't WITH you during the charge on the beam, they could've been back with the others, maybe I told them to go back to the ship, or something else, who knows. It's weird, but it didn't seem implausible that they escaped Earth somehow during all the madness. It's hard to say how much actual time passed between getting shot and then being dead and then all the other stuff that happened. The people are based on who you use the most, so... if you brought your favorite characters to the final area, then, yeah it could be immersion breaking, in which case I'd blame the game mechanic that decides on who emerges from the Normandy than anything else.

My biggest question with the Green ending is pretty much "What the hell happened to everybody else on the Normandy? Was my sacrifice for a bunch of fucking nobodies that I don't know in the future, or were they also inside the ship but just didn't emerge? I dunno, that'd definitely rub me the wrong way if the endings pretty much all result in 90% of my friends/crew/etc. dying, no matter what.

As for Anderson... Anderson was there for dramatic effect, and because Marauder Shields hadn't shown up yet to protect the gate. He could've woken up well ahead of Shepard and made his way inside with no resistance. As for the Child... I guess he kind of looked like the dream kid. I'd say that was more just coincidence or them trying to be all symbolic, or maybe he was just representing himself in a form that Shepard would recognize? I dunno, those are my guesses there.

A lot of those big issues with the ending seem more like "stylistic" things that can break immersion, but they weren't nearly as bad as Resident Evil 5's ending, so... hey, at least we got that.

the more I think about it, none of your choices matter at all, not even with just the ending.

Spoiler
Lets look at 2 of the big choices from the first game that should have earth shattering effects and wildly differing paths in the 3rd game, the death of wrex and killing or saving the rachni queen, in my male shep play through I saved wrex and saved the queen, in my femshep wrex died and I killed the queen.

in mass effect 3 in both games the entire krogan conflict played out almost identically weather wrex lived or died, they just had a stand in for wrex which ultimately made very little difference, and if you kill the rachni queen the reapers just clone a queen and the queen is still there and that whole mission plays out the same.

also I saw no real big differences in weather you destroyed the collector base or turned it over.

the more I think about it, the more I realize there really isnt a whole lot of choice at all because the entire 3rd game plays out almost exactly the same no matter which choices you made a long the way.... disappointing.

You know what would have been cool? If you could go to the war map and select different parts of the galaxy and play a tower defense map to hold off the reapers. The different war assets would represent different towers types. If you won that would clear that sector for a time and allow you to scan planets without being run off as easily.

For the final defense of Earth it would be an endless wave survival in which you would lose, but depending on how long you survived would affect your ending. So if you only made it to round 20 and got destroyed you would be encouraged to go back do some more side missions and get those extra war assets so maybe you could last a little longer.

Well, yeah, it was kind of the same in ME2 with the council stuff. It's all just flavoring, but it's not like they're going to have branching quest lines depending on what you did or didn't too, that's a bit TOO in depth in this current era of gaming... although Dragon Age 2 KIND OF had something like that for DAO/A it was just not part of the main plot stuff and more side quest related.
