ok, so a few weeks ago I noticed my xbox 360 (the old white one) starting to act up and slow down, it was quite clear it was about to shit the bed, so I went and traded it in and what few games I had, with the intention of buying another, newer, xbox 360 slim this week with my large OT check.

now, i am starting to wonder, I have had a 360 since It first came out more or less, should I just go ahead and get another 360, or should I pick up a PS3 and check out the exclusives on that system?

I am leaning towards ps3 atm, any thoughts?

If you do anything online, stick with the 360. Xbox Live is just way more user friendly than PSN, not to mention PSN doesn't have party chat, which sucks ass. Menus are easier to navigate on the 360 as well.

However, if you don't play games online the PS3's exclusives are far superior to the 360. If you get it buy Uncharted 2 at the very least. I cannot promote that game more. It's better than all the 360 exclusives combined. Oh and blu ray...

Oh, and do research on some multiplatform games as it seems the PS3 is constantly bogged with issues in development. Oh, and never, ever buy a Bethesda game on PS3. Link can explain why.

historically I have never played games online becasue i refused to pay for xbox live lol, thats one of the things I liked about ps3, if I decided I wanted to try the multi player for ME3 or dead space 2 i can try it out with out having to pay extra.

also, I really like the idea of the exclusives, 3d dot game heroes, uncharted, ratchet and clank series, etc etc.

Multiplayer in Dead Space 2 is garbage, don't even bother. I know some people love the multiplayer in ME3, personally I find it very bland and not overly fun. Much better hoard-like modes out there.

3D Dot Gameheroes is another must. Best Zelda game since A Link to the Past. If you get a PS3 add me: Mr_Black07. I'm not on it much, but if you get Uncharted 2 and 3 we can co-op it up. Buy those too btw.

This year there hasn't been any outstanding exclusives. Next year, however: The Last of Us... I want it now.

Twisted Metal, Soundshapes, and Starhawk. Meanwhile 360 is pretty much a graveyard this year besides Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

The only one that appeals to me is Twisted Metal, and I heard it was just ok. As for the 360, I agree that American Nightmare's the only good game to come out so far. Forza Horizon, however, looks awesome. I guess Halo 4 if I really cared... well my buddy is giving me a copy of the game for free, but Halo doesn't excite me.

well I dont mean I want to play those games specifically, what I mean is more like, take RE6, I am definitely going to buy RE6, if i have a 360 ill never play co op or try MP because I am not forking over the extra cash each year, however If i was to have a Ps3 and I could check out the co op and multiplayer with out having to pay extra, then I might actually check it out.

I'd say at some point get both, but if you have to get one or the other right now I'd say follow Mr. Black's advice. Like online gaming: get a 360, like single player: get a PS3.

There are some nice games to play online on the PS3 however, in my opinion the best ones for online play are Twisted Metal and Killzone 3.

This. At this stage in the game you'd be talking like, couple hundred bucks for both systems. Combined.

That's true too. Both systems are very affordable now as we wait for the next gen to start up.

Another thing too, I like the 360 controller way more. It's just more comfortable to use. I use my wired one all the time for PC gaming too.

The 360 controller isn't bad unless you need to use that horrid Dpad alot. For FPS games its pretty nice but for fighting games it's terrible. The PS3 controller has almost the same problem, only if you use the dpad alot for action and fighting games you'll tear up your thumb. I'd say get a 3rd party controller for whatever system you want, usually those are pretty good if you get the right one.

Just picked one up to play Dark Souls on PC. The Logitech I have (looks like the PS controller) simply doesn't hold up.

I agree with Bastard Gamer on the fighting game point. The PS3's Dpad is a million times better than the 360s and it's the primary reason I got Mortal Kombat on PS3... that and Kratos, who I soon found out was a meh character. But for everything else the 360 controller's far superior.

@Low Budget Jeff: How is Dark Souls on PC? I got it for 360 a few months ago, came across a game-breaking glitch that wouldn't let me continue on so I stopped playing all together. I like the idea of Dark Souls, but if it's going to glitch out on me then... meh.

Yea i dont care for the ps3 controller. Honestly. One of the main reasons i am considering ps3 is the re6 archive, re 1,2,3,4,5 +6 for 80 bucks.

Plus i really want to check out the 3 uncharted games and the last of us.

Anyone know a good 3rd party ps3 controller? also where can i find a ps3 that cheap every where i check even craigslist and ebay they are 200+

I'll be honest, never played Demon Souls when it was out and passed on Dark Souls when it was released on console so I have nothing to compare it against as far as that goes.

I will say at first it refused to load at all, when it finally did it looked like garbage so I had to install the high res patch which caused it to only show up in 1/4 of the screen.

Once I got that all sorted out, it runs great, looks great, is tough as nails and makes me want to throw my controller through the window.
