Original Persona on PSP is hurting my brain. All these fusion combos and shit and like... urghhh... trying to just sit down and figure it all out hurts. Maybe the fandom makes it more complex than it actually needs to be? I also assume a large majority of the "epic Persona" stuff is worthless to pursue outside of the SQQ, since the SEBEC quest seems to be easy enough.

Nice. I haven't heard anything about it being released in America yet, but it hasn't come out in Japan just yet either. Seems like they did a major overhaul on the PSP versions.

Progress update on SMT: Persona. I'm heading to the Haunted Forest. I'm level 30ish and I have a relatively firm grasp of what I'm doing now. I just started out horribly under-leveled for the area I was in. Still struggling a bit with finding some good persona for some of my teammates though.

You know what I want? P4P. I know it wasnt as cult a game as persona 3, but in my opinion, it was better in almost every way. I cant stop playing persona 4, and I never say that about any game ever.

And has anyone actually beaten persona 1? Does anyone have the patience to play a game with no redeeming qualities for so long? I pretty much gave up after the haunted forest myself so...

Of course Persona 4 was the better game, the story actually existed for the entire game.

I'd love a Persona game that uses major plot points and characters of the past few.

I think they imply thats what they're planning in the true end of persona 4. that butterfly guy has to be getting tired just saving our games and appearing in random scenes.

Nippon ichi is better than atlus.

Don't think I ever saw said Butterfly guy in P4, actually. I did get the true ending but never saw him.

As for Nippon Ichi, I would agree if they made more than just the same style of SRPG over and over. Fun fact: The first Disgaea was brought to the states with a new song by Tsunami Bomb with help of Atlus.

I actually really liked Persona and it's story, and the fact there were branching paths/characters, etc. Would I play through again and do SQQ? Maybe. It's a pretty enjoyable game, and the main reasons I've never played P3 or P4 was because I wanted to finish the prequels first before I played the sequel.

I stopped the PSX version after the Haunted Forest, most likely because I got some other game like Fallout 3 I think (which I also didn't finish.)

Okay, so I was recently surprised over how cheap I could get Persona 3 TES and Persona 4 at online stores. So I'm just asking: If I pick these up, should I start with 3 and then move on to 4 later?

Yes.

3 will be ruined for you if you start with 4 first. Not story wise, 4 has little to do with 3, but overall quality. 3 is good, but 4 perfects everything about it.

Unless you're strapped for time, then ignore 3 and go straight to 4. And You could get persona 3 portable, since no one really beats the answer (the bonus content only found in FES) since its too hard and only explains things that wouldn't be known to only people who dont know persona lore.

And I mean NISA compared to ATLUS of america. those guys.

I don't have a PSP, so the portable version is out of the question.

Besides, I do usually try to play through games in game franchises in chronological order, just to see how the series has evolved over time. I was just curious if Persona 4 offered some vastly different gameplay elements compared to Persona 3, which would then make it harder to come back to P3 later.

1 and 2 are very very different compared to 3 and 4. Otherwise, 3 and 4 kind of use the same everything, 3 makes the standards, 4 makes them awesome.

So yeah, 3 and 4 are very similar in terms of gameplay.
