Back to Sonic Unleashed, I just watched a new(ish) trailer and I have to wonder, what do you actually do? I've had this problem with all of the 3D Sonic games. Once you start running through a stage, the player has minimal control or input. You nudge Sonic left or right and jump occasionally, but the games still feel like they're on rails.

Yeah, it looks cool, but how satisfying is it when the game does everything for you?

this time we're probably going to hav more control over it and it maybe more challenging.

Yesterday I started playing every main series Sonic the Hedgehog game, I did this also with Castlevania a few summers ago. I hope that by the end of the year I will have played them all in order of release. So far I have played:

Sonic 1 (genesis), Sonic 1 (game gear), Sonic 2 (game gear), Sonic 2 (genesis)

I'll prob write my thoughts on all of this eventually.

Isn't it like that with most Sonic games?

There's also to variant of, hold right and occasionally jump.
That's how I played most of the 2D Sonics.
Like Sonic CD...and Sonic on Genesis.... and Sonic Advanced... and Sonic Rush.

Add anything else other than speed or just running to the right, people will complain that it's too slow and doesn't feel like a "real" Sonic game.

I'm really looking foward to the new batch of sonic games! Although I thought Sonic Adventure 3 would have been a better idea I'm really looking foward to Sonic Unleashed and if they get it right it'll be like playing Sonic Adventure for the first time again.....aboslutely awesome!

To celebrate my friend made a video with the first two trailers if anyones interested!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P02XdCnAaXM

I also like the look of chronicles and I think the RPG element will pay off. I have faith in bioware!

Oh and I don't know if it has been mentioned already but for anyone in the UK (or some really die hard sonic fans willing to travel!) there will be a Sonic festival held in London this summer which is called Summer of Sonic! Although Sega are not officially running it they are supporting it and there might be one of the new sonic games there available to play!!! Oh and you get to meet Sonic The Hedgehog in person! :-o

But there will be a lot of other stuff to do too!

Heres a website for anyone interested in that too!

The only (terrible) bad 3D Sonic game was Sonic 2006, it was horrific and unplayable.

I don't see anything wrong with Sonic Heroes (I thought it had a unique twist on the standard gameplay), Shadow (So what he had a gun? The story was pretty intresting) or Secret Rings (Yes, I know many of you people from ScrewAttack back in 07 thought I hated this game and I did, but I gave it another try and I can say it is respectable in the style of the gameplay).

If they do make a Sonic Adventure 3 (which they won't, because the story arc has passed. But if they did hypothetically speaking...) it should be like Sonic Adventure 1, but better: 3 or more Adventure Fields, up to at least 20 Action Stages altogether, bring back E-102 Gamma and Big the Cat (Gamma had a very intense storyline for a Sonic game back then, involving killing off his brothers to save them from being dismantled and reformed into freakish war machines, he also had a very though provoking ending. Big the cat's gameplay may have been a drastic departure from the standard, but it makes a nice relaxing change and gives you time to take in the scenery, especially on Emerald Coast). Station Square HAS to return with the original or redone music, add the 3D Green Hill Zone from SA2:B, or heck even a whole 3D Sonic 1 (I mean if SEGA really wants to keep Sonic alive, they better show their fans that they mean business, take Nintendo for example: They don't fuck around when it comes to Super Mario games). And it should NOT have the 4Kids voice cast, I know this argument has gone on for years, but come on! Ryan Drummond IS Sonic The Hedgehog. I know they can't bring back the original Sonic Adventure 1 Dr. Eggman voice actor Deem Bristow (whose tragic death cause the whole 4Kids takeover), but seriously listen to Eggman speak in SA2 or any other game after and then hear him ROAR with his amazing voice work in SA1, proving Deem Britstow was an incedible actor for Eggman. But yeah anyway, revert to the original gameplay with upgrades hidden throughout, but not Tikal and Chaos flashback to a past time crap, I'm pretty sure everyone hated those moments in the game, they were a real drag. And the final boss should be EPIC, close to how Erazor Djinn was in Secret Rings, I must admit his final boss battle was fucking immense, but not EPIC. Perfect Chaos was waaay to easy. Eggman should not be the final boss, but he should be the end boss for each characters' story. The character list should be roughly around the area of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles (his emerald hunting stuff was fun in SA1, but ruined in SA2 by the randomisation), Big, E-102 Gamma, Metal Sonic (the only dark side character since he was truly evil, because Gamma because good), Espio (possibly, that would be pretty awesome) and Super Sonic (no hyper shadow, but I'm cool with Super Knuckles and Super Tails like in SH).

Yeah, that was a big fucking rant/demand/theory thing. I don't usually do that, but you can tell by my name (and most of you know me well anyway) that I KNOW SONIC.

:-D

I hope Sonic and The Dark Knight is just a updated version of Sonic and The Secret Rings or a good Zelda rip-off.
OMG! I really want a new Zelda game.

Okay I really don't see the point in another sonic game (unleashed and chronicles look awesome!) but I want to hear more about this just to see what the hell it is actually about and what type of game it is!

Thanks for getting the info rapture!

Well it sounds ermm.... interesting. Of course I want to know more but for now we're being left in the dark (no pun intended).

I don't know how everyone else felt but I was really disappointed with secret rings so hopefully this will be a milestone better!

Some new info that sheds some light on Sonic's sword adventure.

Edit: Meant to edit this post.

Looks like a spiritual sequel to Secret Rings. At least from the pictures. For those not reading articles does anyone have a link to a trailer or anything?

I don't think there's a trailer yet, all i could find were the screen grabs from the article.

My god, First off Sega did the whole Link-wolf thing with the new Sonic game, and now Sonic has a sword now? I dont think it would be long before Sonic wears a green tunic and a funky hat
