PS+ gave Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for free.

Any game that starts off with a recreation of the final level in Rondo of Blood definitely gets on my good side. :-D

Also, some other updates on games I've been playing throughout the weeks:

I'm slowly trekking through Metal Gear Solid 2. It's great, but I haven't had time to just sit down and play through it. I just finished defusing the bombs, so I'm still pretty early on the game. I also went back to Code Veronica HD, which I stopped playing because Uncharted 3. After finding out that I completely skipped an entire area by accident, which was mandatory in restoring electricity in one area, I got back into the game. Definitely going to finish it after I beat Metal Gear Solid 2.

Symphony of the Night is beyond awesome. So many memories plowing through everything in that game with a couple of buddies in high school. Beat it 200.6% or you haven't truly beaten it!

MGS2 is my least favorite of the Metal Gear games. I still haven't played 3 though. It's next on my list after I beat Witcher 2.

Best game of last year. Might be the best game made this generation. Enjoy!

Debatable, but it's an awesome game none the less.

Easily in the top 10 if not top 5. Few games are truly in that league.

There may be some that are better, but not many.

Well considering Arkham Asylum was my favorite game of this console generation and seeing how much better Arkham City is to the original you can see how it's my favorite game of this cycle. The best Batman game and arguably the best superhero game ever made. I love the combat system as I've said several times. I can easily get 40-60 hit combos, even on hard mode. Great side missions and much improved bosses (there are only a few but they're all awesome). Can't wait for the final bit of DLC. Don't think I'll get the GOTY edition though. I like the current game's cover art and the new one is... well horrible.

Currently I like 2 more, but 3 is still pretty damn awesome. Arkham City still beats both though. Sorry, it just feels like the Arkham series was built with my kind of playstyle in mind. Metroidvania item searches, great combat, great characters voiced mostly by the people who worked the 90s animated series (the main reason Batman was my favorite comic book character as a kid was because of that show). It's exactly the game I've always wanted and can play both titles over and over and never get tired. The Mass Effect series probably comes second for me in this cycle... hahaha

I have to agree with Mr. Black on the greatness of Rocksteady's Batman. It took everything that made the comics great, added in its own creativity, while respecting the license. My only problem was Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, but other than that, Arkham Asylum was amazing. And as horrible as the new cover is, I'm going to pick up Arkham City in the future because I've been dying to play it but decided to wait for a Game of the Year edition.

I'm not too sure what my favorite game of this cycle is, but the Uncharted series is easily my favorite series to come out in this gen. And multiplayer-wise, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was everything I wanted out of a sequel to one of my favorite series.

FAXANADU!!!

Thanks to Jared, every time I hear that name, I have to proclaim the name of that game just as he does. What a great game that I have played for far too short. I really need to play my copy and figure out what the hell I need to do. Hopefully, in due time...

For me, I was playing a little Wolfenstein 3D in my browser. http://wolfenstein.bethsoft.com/game_NA.php

One of the very few PC games that I played for a long time, I had to remember my roots. And shooting Nazi's in that game was still so much fun!

If you liked Arkham Asylum you're going to love City. Think I might ask for my copy back from the buddy I lent it to so I can finish my Game Plus playthrough before the Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC comes out.

ugh.... fuck that game. It had some awesome parts but it couldn't save it from being bad IMO. The final tower is just a piss off... still haven't finished it.

Soul Nomad and the World Eaters

Basically Disgaea except with a squad based party system, a villain hero who's actually a villain (what with almost completely destroying the planet before the events of the game and leaving it a lifeless husk), plot points dealing with lovely subjects like child slavery and genocide, a race that's half cow and a lot of horrible things happen and are taken seriously.

I can't wait till I beat it and get new game plus, because then I can do the Demon Path, where you get to make your character the single most evil being that ever lived and drive everyone insane and evil through torment and abuse. Oh, and it even lets you destroy reality at the end if you want. It's a barrel full of monkeys.

I am a self proclaimed NIS/Atlus fanboy and I want this one soooo freaking much. I own, have played and beaten Disgaea, Disgaea 2, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle Tactics, Makai Kingdom, Rhapsody & Atelier Iris. I want/need the rest of the Atelier Iris series, Ar Tonelico, Mana Khemia, Sakura Wars, Soul Nomad and GrimGrimoire.

I remember when I was playing Ogre Battle that Soul Nomad is much like it, but in such better ways. The RTS aspect in Ogre Battle isn't as prevalent in Soul Nomad and the hard edges of the game have been buffed down to make it much easier to enjoy.

Out of the hundreds of PS2 games I want, Soul Nomad is definitely high on the list. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying it and about the good review of it!

I got really lucky and found it cheap at a GameStop awhile back. Last time it was pretty damn expensive, even now it's charged around 50 bucks online from my experience.
