Oh don't get me wrong, it doesn't come close to capturing the the fantastic gameplay of the original DMC or DMC 3 (one of my top 5 games of all time btw) but it's still a fun game from what I've played. I'll give more of an opinion once I play more this week but I do agree that the bosses so far are a joke compared to the original series. You don't go from A - B in the middle of combat though. Or S to A and so forth. SSS is way to easy to get and maintain, because you can literally do nothing and keep it.
Oh and the style meter does go down once you hit an A style rank. Not much solace for seasoned veterans in the series like us but meh. I wasn't expecting the next DMC3 with this game, I was just expecting a solid brawler and that's exactly what it is. If you want combat more akin to the original series hit up Bayonetta. Fantastic gameplay, made by the original creator of DMC but fuck me one of the most stupid stories I've ever seen in gaming. Half way through beating it I just skipped all the cutscenes as a) they made no sense and b) I could feel my braincells committing suicide from watching them.
Also I liked the combat in Heavenly Sword, I just HATED the forced six axis controls... they alone made me get rid of the game without beating it.
And I have played Bayonetta. It's one of my favorite games this generation, and I'll soon be getting Metal Gear Rising (which releases on my birthday btw)
