I know people have been saying this for years, but why cant RE take a page from dead space?

DS3 has co-op in it, however the devs realizing that dead space is a game meant to be played alone do not have the co op character following you around as a souless bot when playing single player, he shows up every now and then like a normal side character, and if you choose to play co op then he is with you all the time, why couldnt they have taken this approach with RE5 or 6? why force us to always have a partner, even in single player? ugh.

This is a bizzare game.... I am maybe an hour in and there has been maybe 10 -15 minutes of actual gameplay. It is all cutscenes and QTEs. The review i read that said this is a Michael bay movie was dead on

I hate QTEs, but considering 4 and 5 had them I'm not overly surprised they're all over the place in 6. Which character are you starting off as?

Even though it felt nothing like RE, I still kinda liked the demo. I might rent it, buy it at $20. Mostly because I want to co-op through it with Demon Gate.

I am starting as Leon. I have not made it to the end of the first chapter and so far i would say there have been more QTES than in all of RE 4 or 5. its just really strange how many cutscenes and QTEs there are. It definately does not feel like a re game but i knew it wouldn't, its just so bizarre how far off it is from re. In the first 10 min a jetplane crashes into a building triggering a massive explosion that would make Michael bay harder than a pillow case full of viagra.

Its not a bad game. And it is fun. Its just odd and NOTHING like i was expecting, i really hope the number of QTEs goes down and not up from here on.

Just picked up my copy and I'll tear into it later. And I'm listening to Birdman's RAD review of it.

Yeah, it'll be high on my xmas wish list and if not I'll get it on Boxing day when it's on sale for like $30 (hopefully) but I won't be getting it for awhile. I do have some games I don't plan on playing anymore that qualify at both EB and Best Buy for their trade 2 deals but I think I'd have more fun with either Dishonored and Assassin's Creed 3 than RE6. That and Borderlands 2 is such a huge, awesome game and I don't want to stop playing it.

As long as RE6 is better than RE5 I'll be ok with it.

I don't get all the Resident Evil bashing these days. Granted the last three games have taken a departure from the previous four games in terms of gameplay, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm still spooked as much as I had been as child when I played the first game. The lame dialogue and clunky game play of running back and forth across a mansion to use a spade key. Would any really enjoy that type of gameplay today? I'd get tired of it extremely fast.

The production value is great. The games look amazing, voice acting is pretty solid across the board and the story has been solid as well. Why do people pick on RE 5? Wesker is a badass.

Granted I'm not that far into RE6, but I've enjoyed it a great deal thus far.

wesker in RE5 was not wesker,,,, not at all, not even close, he was some random vanilla bad guy they made to look like wesker, he had nothing in common with the wesker of previous games.

don't get me wrong, the new resident evil games are GREAT games with solid, fun gameplay and cutting edge graphics, they are just not resident evil games, they lack every single thing that made RE the franchise what it was, they are solid actioners for sure, but they are in no way shape or form survival horror, wouldn't you be pissed if you went to see saw 6 and its now a light hearted musical comedy about a john kramer going across country in an RV? same name, same character, totally different genre.

they could keep the games more action oriented, just add in some puzzles and a few more survival horror elements, Leons campaign is the first time it looks like they have tried to blend the new with the old sort of, and it shows that it could work if they would just commit to it.

anyway, I have gotten a bit further into Leons campaign, it is by far better than RE5 so far, I would say at least in leons campaign they have nailed the atmosphere, and I love the fact it has actual zombies, they are fast, use weapons, but are still zombies, works well.

I really enjoy how effective melee is, my one gripe , and I cant understand why they did not do this, is the knife, you still have to equip it, ready it, and hit the attack button to preform one shitty swipe that does jack, especially useless when you can just tap R1 and do an awesome melee combo, what they should have done is have you equip the knife, then when you melee with R1 it incorporates it into the melee combat. but yea, so far better than RE5, will see how it fairs as I play other campaigns.

also, it needs to be said,,,,some random guy piers? some random chick helena? bringing back sherry birkin in a totally random way that no one would expect her to be brought back, and bringing in weskers kid, all these random and new characters and no barry? wtf capcom! RE7 better god damn well be jill with barry as her partner.....

Started playing this evening, and started with Leon's campaign. So far I'm not thrilled with all the QTEs because in general I hate them, but I think the atmosphere is definitely more old school RE than it's been in a long time. So I have to say so far I'm enjoying it. I'm guessing that I'll not like Chris' and Jake's nearly as much.

the more I am playing this the more I am enjoying it , though to be fair I am not done with Leon yet, can't wait to see how it all plays out in the end, definitely far better than 5, at least parts of this feel like a resident evil game, though I do still think its way too over the top action movie'ie and way too many QTE's

so, I beat leons campaign, I really liked it a lot, it had that old school RE feel to it, something of a cross between RE2 and RE4, definitely cool, though I would rather chew broken glass than do that cable climbing QTE again.

I am now playing through chris, and much to my surprise it works, and I really enjoy it, it has a sort of call of duty vibe to it, which at first seems like it wouldn't work, but after thinking about, the whole goal all along has been to make super soldiers, they failed bad and it made zombies, now, they have finally succeeded, and have made bonafied super soldiers in the J'avo, and now the BSAA is in a full on war with the BOWs, and it actually works a lot better than I thought it would.

I am really enjoying RE6 alot, took a bit of getting used to, but now i am finding it very fun.

one major problem I have with this game, if its all the C virus, how come leon only ever fights zombies and chris only ever fights javo? dont you think chris would run into a zombie or 2 and leon might have to fight some javo?

So I'm still on Leon's campaign, and so far....I really don't get the rage against this game. It's got issues, yes, but I'm starting to think the rage against RE6 is just the "in" thing to do. Granted my tune may change after I play the other campaigns, but so far I'm just not getting why it is being crucified by some.

so I just finished up ada's campaign, soooo much better than RE 5 in almost every possible way, I absolutely do not see what all the hate is about with this game, and I hated 5 and I was ready to throw this game to the wolves before even playing it, and I really enjoyed it from beginning to end, obviously its come a long way from the RE of old, and it will most likely never go back there, but at least here even in the most action heavy of sections they tried to infuse some nice atmosphere into the game.

I do wish the story was a bit more tight, at the end of it all, it just of just feels like, here are some monsters make them dead .

using RE 6 as a spring broad, and adding few more puzzles and the old school files you could pick up and read as you progressed a long would take the series someplace great IMO.

Ok I've had time to play it and.....I take back everything I said. I HATE THIS GAME!

This game is TERRIBLE. And this is Leon's campaign, supposedly the good one. My lord the rage I have against this game has me wanting to snap the disc in half. The camera is freakin' awful, it's WAY too close to Leon and I end up not even being able to see half the freakin' zombies and dogs that attack me. Secondly, make up your mind on what you want the game to be, if you're going to be survival horror and not give much ammo, fine, but don't throw 1000 enemies at me and make me kill them all if you're not going to give me enough ammo to do so.

Who designed the idiotic checkpoint system? Why can I play 45 minutes and it say my progress is saved, only for me to load it up later and be all the way back where i started the playthrough before. IDIOTIC! I played til I got outside the cathedral and had to kill all the zombies/monsters and I died about 10 times because I never had enough ammo to kill them all. So I quit. Started back up an hour later and it put me back at the begging of the freakin' level. WTF!!!

Someone please tell me I'm doing something wrong, or I'm missing something, because I don't know if I can play much more of this crap.

I enjoyed it, but am kind of starting to turn on it my self, I know i manually save it a lot, so that might relieve some of the frustration of the autosave situation.

the controls and the camera does suck, I guess my enjoyment of the game came more from the atmosphere and less from the technical stuff, the atmosphere was the best it has been in a while in a RE game.

now, I will say, I loved RE5 at first, then after a few more playthroughs I ended up hating it, and I am already really starting to question some of the stuff from this game story wise which was incredibly weak, also at the end of this game I feel there is absolutely zero resolution, I mean sure there was a boss, infact there were 4 bosses, but it just feels unfinished, what did i accomplish? I really cant tell you, and I cant tell you if the crisis has been adverted aside from litterally a 2 second line delivered over the radio in one campaign saying that a cure had been found, even the post campaign recaps dont offer much if any resolution at all, I dont know if they are planing on wraping the story up further through DLC but the story or rather lack of story in this game is horrid, and I feel the end, all 4 of them, were sort of cheap and didnt tell us anything.

I am doing a full series playthrough , just got to RE3, once I replay RE6 again either some of my story concerns will be put to rest, or it will be worse, I have a feeling it will be worse.

I've had a few hours to calm down, and I admit I made that post in a nerd rage right after I had gotten done playing it, but I still think the game has some serious problems. I don't know if they are working on any patches or anything, but geez. For instance, the inventory system is freakin' retarded. I've never liked it really but this one is beyond horrible. Secondly, can I please pause the freakin' game? Third, the stupid thing where the zombie starts the "leap at you" motion, many times I've blown its head off and yet it still goes through the motion and attacks me....with no freakin' head!

Am I alone on the ammo part? The cathedral part really is almost making me want to quit playing. It's just wave after wave of zombie things and I have like no ammo. WTF am I supposed to do? And it's not like I'm wasting a lot either.
