New Website Thread

Ok so it was let out in the latest Prototype we're redesigning the site! The scheduled Release date is August 01, 2011

But we need beta testers!

Is what you would be seeing IF you made it into the BETA

Beta Testers are charged with the job of finding bugs, broken links, testing new features, and giving us suggestions for new and awesome content/features. It's a big responsibility and if you do make into the BETA but aren't active you will be removed. We wanna launch on the first so its important that we find all bugs, broken links, or any weird shit on the site!

I could give it a shot. I usually go through sites clicking on everything. I also have plenty of time to mess around. Especially on weekends where i do next to nothing but wait for the next week :rabbid:

though if thats not enough qualifications ok then. But I am skilled at clicking the left mouse button :mah:

Disclaimer: A new forum theme will be around the corner as well. Real life has been crazy, but before anybody panics, the old themes will remain, so you won't be forced to keep the new theme if you're feeling nostalgic/don't like change/whatever.

I put some comments in the beta thread, but in terms of positive stuff, it's a nice clean layout and seems to be better organized. I absolutely HATE white with a passion, just because it's what everyone seems to do, but I still think it works well for this particular site. I still miss my Orange though.

I also really like the new site, everything is much easier to find. I particularly like those cartoons representations of all The Game Heroes. Who made them?

Love the site, it's very good. The only couple of things that I've noticed that need to be "fixed", which I'm sure you're working on:

1) When making a comment on a video, can the comment post without reloading the entire page, ala Ajax/JQuery? I made a comment in the middle of the June/July podcast and it reloaded.

2) I'd like to add an avatar image to my WordPress account for the site; unless I'm just not seeing the option.

Also, I know it's relatively early in the design process, but for the love of god, ditch the white noise backgrounds your using for your title cards. They hurt the eyes and are a terrible design choice given your foreground images. Could try some 16-bit Mario-esque background images. For example:

the reload thing really wont be changing sry :ouch:

the image and login and other stuff is being added atm had to turn off the plugins as we transfer

I'm amazed that after 3-4 years, 2 redesigns TGH is still in beta...oh wait BETA 3.0!

I like the color but feels too blue. I could suggest to keep the heroes vs. villain theme is to have a theme changer widget http://jqueryui.com/docs/Theming/ThemeSwitcher or something that loads a different .css file. It's gonna be jQuery heavy but it's gonna be awesome. You might need to put the theme css codes in the external css file you have and not the html though.

I really like the parallax scroll you guys have when the page is at the bottom. And so far as web standards go, it looks way better than 2.0.

Oh for some reason the twitter widget(atleast I think that was a twitter widget) has never worked for me could be wordpress related.

On the front page, I can't go to page 2, the Next button doesn't work, and content for YIBR is missing. Other than that, I like it

So is eventually the new logo going to completely replace the "old" logo? I like the new logo but I'm wondering if maybe it should keep the orange instead of the dark grey.

And yeah, the more I look at it, I'd really like it if you could lose all the white; it's too much.
