I can't figure it out. As a character in itself I actually really like Black Panther. I look at my figure of him and think "bad-ass"...but, I read anything with him in it and instantly I'm just stricken with a complete lack of interest and boredom. :-?

The Marvel Knights Black Panther series was good.

Specifically speaking about the recent Black Panther series with the "new" Black Panther... it felt too political. It was like a pile of Wakanda politics bullshit, and if it wasn't that it was spirit walk animal totem bullshit.

I just wanted to see SOMEONE kicking ass and taking names and that barely ever happened.

So 3 books into Nemesis and I'm not sure if I even care for the story anymore. Don't get me wrong I get that its supposed to be an over-the-top ridiculous story, but book three pushed that envelope right off the table.

Spoiler
The whole "he rigged her womb to collapse" bit is where I was like "ok we're officially beyond suspension of disbelief". I'm not saying I found it offensive, just ludicrous.

I think the reason why its too hard to believe is that its just moving along too fast; causing the all of its shock moments to feel empty. More spoilers:

Spoiler
Within the span of like two page's Blake's kids get kidnapped, he find's out that his wife cheated on him, his son is gay, his daughter had an abortion, his kids are returned and Nemesis impregnated Blake's daughter with Blake's gay son's seed. WTF?!

The thing that really confuses me though is that its already been picked up by Fox to be turned into a movie... Something tells me its going to be drastically different.

On the plus side: There's an ad for Kick-ass 2 all the way in the back, and it starts in October. Woot!

Man, I feel really good about the fact I DIDN'T run out and jump on the "this is awesome" band wagon. Curious how Millar's other similar sounding title (as in the title of the book reminded me of Nemesis) is going to be.

Like a Michael Bay movie in comic form.

Haven't gotten to it yet and have no idea what it's about (though I suspect Ares' son Phobos is involved?) so I don't really have expectations.

I will say though that I love the promo images. The Spidey one isn't as great but the Captain America and X-Men ones are great.

Been reading the comic adaptations of The Stand recently.

I was not expecting this thing to be so good. Seriously, they really managed to bring in the language from the book while complimenting the story with some really well done symbolism and atmosphere.

Not sure yet because it hasn't hit any of the Marvel books I keep up with yet. Don't know too much about it tbh, but if its better than Siege (or as good as Dark Reign) then that's a plus for me.

Out of curiosity, seeing as how we haven't updated the "what are you buying this week" thread I'm curious what other folks have been reading lately; whether it be single issues or trades.

From Marvel I've only only reading
Deadpool
Iron Man
Secret Avengers
Thunderbolts

Dropped Amazing Spider-man when Big Time started but I've been on the fence on picking it back up.

Boom
Darkwing Duck

DC
Action Comics
Booster Gold
Batman/Batman & Robin/Detective Comics
Gotham City Sirens
Street Of Gotham
Green Lantern/GL Corp/GL Emerald Warriors
Green Arrow
Flash
Secret Six
Superman
Superboy
Wonder Woman
Brightest Day
Justice League of America
Generation Lost
Brightest Day
Titans
Red Robin

Been looking to drop some of these soon because its gotten a little hard to try and keep up with some storylines that are going on; mainly the Bat books.

Marvel:
---
Amazing Spider-Man
Fantastic Four
Avengers (All groups, including Academy. And by "including" I mean ESPECIALLY :-D )
Captain America
Thor
Thunderbolts
Hulks (Incredible and Adjective-less)
X-Men (Uncanny/X-Force/Legacy)
Wolverine
Daken
Deadpool
Ultimate Universe (though I can't figure out why I still give a damn...)

Boom:
---
Darkwing Duck

Image:
---
The Walking Dead

Those are all my "regular" titles. There are trades of things I want to get to, like "All Star Superman" (I saw the flick and now I really want to read it) and some other stuffage.

I knew I forgot one. Probably because its the only one I read that isn't from one of the big two.

Morning Glories. Check it out. Also, American Vampire (Vertigo, but... whatever.)

What's up with the painty look on Finch's recent covers of Brightest Day.

David Finch is probably one of the best comic artists out there and honestly the painting style is just muddying the art.

...ya'know, imo.

You sure you're not thinking about Ivan Reis' covers? I know the Finch Batman was painted but for the most part they're normally colored (for lack of a better term) like the cover of Brightest Day #20

here's one of Reis' for comparison

I like the look of both to be honest, but to each his own.

Ah, I'm not caught up on Brightest Day. I see Finch isn't doing their covers anymore. Most of the ones I'm referring to were in the mid teens.

No biggie. He's still doing the covers for Brightest Day though with Ivan usually doing variants.

I know Fear Itself is just about to really kick off but the news out of C2E2 about Marvel's "Big Shots" initiative sounds awesome.

First, and its a bit of old news, but Moon Knight is getting relaunched with Bendis at the helm. I've given Bendis grief in the past, but he's grown on me since Dark Reign and I hope we finally get a consistent MK story.

Then there's the fact that Mark Waid is going to be the new writer for Daredevil.
http://comics.ign.com/articles/115/1156625p1.html

But the really cool news is Greg Rucka is coming back to Marvel to work on a new Punisher series with Marco Checchetto on art

I can finally enjoy three of my Marvel favorites again.
