I don't know if there's already a topic about this.
Anyways, I think Bleach is one of the best anime out there!
I'm on episode 18 right now.

Anyone else have any thoughts about this anime?

Bleach is pretty fun, I still watch it, but it is plagued later on by lots of filler arcs, some are on the shorter side, like 13 eps or so, but there is one filler arc, after ep like 64 or so, that is about 50 eps! That is crazy. Even now the anime is in a filler arc that has nothing to do with anything.

Sorry, I didn't mean to go on a rant there, but I think that when Bleach is in canon, it is enjoyable, but I just wish that the filler wasn't so abundant.

Filler is an issue with every Shonen Jump anime, save for the short-but-sweet titles like Demon Detective Neuro, Death Note (over-rated yes but still good!) and Dr. Slump.

I enjoy Bleach every once in a while. I don't tend to like shonen titles (seinen baby!) but its still fun to watch every so often.

I put up with filler, I understand it's purpose, and I don't condemn its existence. I know that having it there let's me enjoy the canon eventually, I just think the filler is pretty bad even by filler standards for Bleach.

Bountu was one of the best filler arcs. I liked it better than some of naruto's main stories. XD

Bleach has some of the more enjoyable filler arcs that I have seen out of any other anime. Yes, they are still inferior to the main plot, but at least I can enjoy them. Most other shounen anime are much worse in regard to what they throw out for filler, so Bleach being decent is a nice change.

I don't know why, but lately I've been avoiding the anime (partially because, last time I checked, they had started the series over AGAIN and Chad had that bloody parakeet) in favor of reading the translated manga. One of my major gripes with filler is that nothing really exciting can happen with them; characters can't die, the main storyline can't have any progression at all...it just kinda sits there and stares at you.

Spoiler
That was my issue with the Naruto filler, too; the first little mini-arc after the Sasuke/Naruto brawl had them (Sakura, Naruto, and Jirayra) chasing after and finding Orochimaru/Kabuto, but you KNEW it couldn't be them, so it kinda ruined it for me. And up until that time, I had enjoyed the anime, but after that...it kinda died for me, a little bit.

I'm just afraid that it will be the same thing with the Bount arc (and the filler arc that the anime recently hit over in Japan), so I'd rather avoid it than have my interest get capped in the knees, especially since I'm 99% sure that they're not going to learn any new techniques, or even reference it ever again once the main story starts up again...

haha your right that's exactly why i was so pissed a Naruto and the one main reason why i completely abandoned the anime for the manga.

on topic. bleach is the shizz but the anime isnt AS good as the manga but i will say bleach did manage to translate very well into an anime and the manga isn't that much better.

i personally liked the bount arc because the bleach anime was getting into the grove and managed to not kil it with random two episode filler arcs and keep it to one continuous arc that wasnt extremely retarted and boring. that i commend it for.

filler is OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE to a manga anime translation. Rorouni Kenshin was cancelled becasue the anime overrun the manga by episodes and they had to write the anime script before the manga. and thats tragic. and i dont want that to happen to bleach or naruto

Yeah, the Bount story kinda annoyed me too, but it picks up after that.
I've been reading the manga, and I must admit it's definately one of my favourites, I can't believe it took me so long to start reading it

Filler episodes are the main reason why I stay away from Naruto and Bleach. =|

Was I the only person who was taken aback when Bleach, in order to use filler, decided to say, "And now for something completely different?"

I thought that was pretty funny that they did that. I'd rather that they do that and have no bearing on the actual plot than add filler characters into the canon like they have done in the past.

I just finished watching the 2 Bount filler arcs and they were surprisingly good, the best filler I've ever seen.

I stole a Bleach Manga from my 2nd period teacher to give to my girl, but instead, i starting reading, and I got hooked.

I've seen a few episodes with my friends, liked it, read the manga, and now, i love the series. It's pretty damn awesome, compared to some other anime's ive been exposed to.
