Overblown Egos on the Internet

Okay, big surprise, people get Egos and act like top dog all the time. None of us are excused from this. But is it just me, or does it seem to be incessantly rampant the past couple weeks? There's a lot of "I'm better than you" or worse going around this time of year. I think there's something in the atmosphere.

Jealousy. Truth. Ya pretty much those, I got an overblown ego when it comes to halo 3, specially in this little group of people I play with every night till like 3 am. I used to be the best in the group. Everyone would be like good going Valh! Valh can you do this? Then I left to play some other games for a few months, and I sucked at halo 3 when I Came back, and now a few people are better. So I gotta say I'm Rusty, and if this was months ago I'd kick your ass 15-2. The Truth is now they are better than me, and I dont like that one bit, not being the one to be called on to do something. I is Jealous.

It seems to me that a person's online ego is inversely proportional to their real life ego. Imagine some guy driving a Hummer. The usual assumption is that he is lacking in other areas. It's the same deal.

Expressing your opinion is one thing. Acting like your shit doesn't stink is something else entirely, and usually an indication of an underlying insecurity.

Damn...I must have a giant penis then because I don't ever go around telling people "I am better than you".

Anyways I find it more prevelent with those that play RTS/MMO games usually those made by Blizard.

Such as DoTA where everyone is a "newb" cuz they can't get a kill.

Or

WoW with the healer not healing as soon as the tank takes 1 damage...you can almost expect a "WTF newb healer can't even do his job".
