I bought a 10 dollar PC gamepad 2 months ago. I've used in maybe 2 weeks play time (max I'll spend a day at 3hrs a day) In that small window of time, two face buttons are sticking, the LEFT d-pad button has collapsed into itself.

This controller is cheap, but I've had 5-10 dollar gamepads before... this thing is the most haphazardly made controller I've ever used.

Don't buy this.

That sucks, I have had my fair share of pieces of shit like that as well. I eventually gave up on them. My favorite gamepad that I have ever used is my usb adapter to let me use my ps2 controller on my pc.

Yeah, generally speaking since there's no official gamepad for PC no one has really spent the time to make a solid one. While on the console side, they controllers are heavily engineered and solidly designed (usually). Your best bet is to just get something that will allow you to use your console controllers on PC.

Right now you can use PS3 and Wii controllers just with a BlueTooth adapter (PS3 controllers require a pretty technical setup to get them properly paired there's lots of tutorials out there on how to do it), 360 has it's own adapters. (the Wireless adapter, however, is no longer sold)

There's also USB adapters for pretty much every major controller out there. Most adapters also come with Joystick drivers, so it will act like a generic joystick.

You can also use something like GlovePie to emulate keyboard and mouse input for games that don't support any sort of controller input.

Glovepie is amazing. I was able to use my wiimote to control Kirby64. If the nyko airflow even BOTHERED to make windows 7 drivers, I wouldn't be in this mess.

It's amazing, but with next to no use, the buttons stuck and fell apart. It's like those old cartoons where the guy buys the car, drives off the lot, and then the thing falls apart.

I have a script for VVVVVV if anyone wants it. It has adaptive control mapping for righty or lefty (Fancy words to say when you flip the controller over, the controls reorient).

Just buy a wired 360 controller and use that.

Actually don't, simply because that D-pad sucks balls.

I picked up a Logitech F510. Is it perfect? No, but for what I use it for it's well suited. Most games I play on PC use analog rather than digital so I don't have to screw around with the d-pad too much. I play a few old school games that the d-pad works decent enough for. I had to battle with it some at the beginning to get it to work just right and the rumble feature is hit and miss, but other than that, it's solid and is only 3x the price of what you paid for that POS you spoke so highly of.
