This week we find out that we might be in for some big announcements at E3, Sony is getting a couple of fun arcade shooters, the Vita sells terribly in Japan and a hacked Xbox Live member takes matters into their own hands.

Death Threats Issued Over New Devil May Cry

Just when I thought people couldn’t sink any lower into the scumbag spectrum, people come along and prove me wrong.

It’s been well documented the new Devil May Cry reboot which is being done by developer Ninja Theory hasn’t been well received by some fans of the series.  But it seems hatred has turned into death threats.

Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades said in an interview with Official Xbox Magazine the studio received a number of death threats about the game, some in very creative ways.

“I was half prepared for it, although I have to say that it has been pretty eye opening to see some of the creative ways in which people have chosen to vent their hatred,” said Antoniades.

“We didn’t expect death threats in comic book form or anti-DmC death metal songs!  It’s pretty hard for me to back the decisions we made without showing actual gameplay to the public. So until that time comes, and it will come soon, I just have to put up with the rage.”

I understand skepticism about this reboot and I understand the backlash of the way they changed the look of the main character, Dante.  But death threats over a game that no one has even played yet?

If you don’t like the way a game looks or the direction it’s taking, speak with your wallet:  Simply don’t buy the game!  Threatening someone’s life over something as trivial as a video game is beyond pathetic.

Gotham City Impostors Delayed

You may have noticed in Handsome Tom’s news video Gotham City Impostors wasn’t in the list of games being released this week.  No it wasn’t a mistake, the game’s been delayed by a month.

No firm release date has been given beyond the “February” time frame but the game is currently in beta.

In all honesty, I don’t know what to make of Gotham City Impostors.  It looks like it could be a fun Team Fortress-like shooter, but I can’t get over how silly it looks with the Batman name slapped onto it.

Maybe if I was in the beta I would have a firmer grasp on the game and how it plays, but alas I wasn’t cool enough to get an invite.  Guess I’ll have to wait a month to find out like everyone else.

Mass Effect 3 Pre Order Bonuses Revealed

If you read my piece a few weeks ago, you know Mass Effect 3 is my most anticipated game for 2012 and I know many other publications are in agreement.   Bioware has released what they will be giving players for pre ordering the game.

The first set of bonuses will be available to everyone.  You will be getting the M55 Argus Assault Rifle, but no other information was given on the weapon.

The second set of bonuses will be retailer specific.  If you pre order at GameStop/EB Games you’ll get the N7 Valkyrie Assault Rifle which fires two rounds per shot and the N7 Defender Armor which improves character shields and health, adds additional ammo capacity and amplified weapon damage.

If you pre order the PC version of Mass Effect 3 using EA’s Origin service you’ll get the AT-12 Raider Shotgun which fires a large pellet spread, ensuring maximum coverage for close-range targets.

Frankly I could care less about pre order bonus’ I just can’t wait to play the final chapter of this trilogy.  The game releases March 6th so looks like we’re just a few months away!

Lego Batman 2 is Incoming

The Lego games are quite popular this console generation, with many different games using many different popular licenses.    Well it seems one more is on the way.

Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes should hit store shelves sometime this spring/summer.  The game will include the obvious Batman and Robin, but it will also include other famous DC superheroes like Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman with confirmed villains being Lex Luthor and the Joker.

I have to admit, the Lego games are a guilty pleasure of mine so I’m excited for this game.  While Lego Batman may have been my least favorite games in the series I have high hopes the sequel will be more fun being able to play as other superheroes.

I would also like to point out this may be one of the only good video games to feature Superman in it.  The poor Man of Steel hasn’t seen many good games in his day, but this will probably be one of them.
